Insert is in the basement on one end of our raised ranch. Stove room and that level is usually about 76-78, above that in the kitchen and living room about 72-73, bedroom at the far end from the stove room I keep at 68-70. We have the insert but also gas hot water boiler on 2 zones so the one zone thermostat is in the bedroom so I just leave it set on 68.
My wife does not want cats in the bedroom so the door stays closed all the time. In the winter the bedroom is usually high 50’s. If wind blows out of the northeast it can drop into low 50’s. This with the rest of the house in the low 70’s. I’m fine with the cold bedroom, great for sleeping.
Wood stove on first floor. Bedrooms and bathroom on second. If the wood stove is running 24/7, the second floor stays at 62 and change, even in the coldest outdoor temps. No vents, no fans, just by keeping the building itself warm (rather than just heating the air). But, we like comforters so if it gets cooler its no biggie. We keep the living area 74-78ish which leaves the bedroom about 65 along with the adjoining bathroom. We have a small electric heater in the bathroom that gets turned on a few minutes before a shower. Warm sitting, cool sleeping, and warm getting out of the shower.
I have an old outdoor/greenhouse thermometer that the indoor part died. Some day I'll clean that old tape glue off of it.
Mid seventies throughout the house including the bedroom is good for us. I always have the window open a crack right by my head, even during the coldest winter nights. It's just nice having fresh air coming in to breathe.
I didn't know we were showing them off Basement - since the thermostat for the P61a is back there behind the shelf, makes it easy to glance at. I mostly use this thermometer to tell when to start up the P61a for the season Have one of these in each bedroom. This is with the mini split going. If the P43 were going it would stay 66-68* since its airstream is pointed straight at this bedroom. The highs and lows shown are lifetime since to change that I would have to manually reset - and I don't care that much, I just need a snapshot. Garage - so I can tell when I need to turn on the therm-guard to keep the FHW pipes in there from freezing. The highs and lows on this are specifically set for a 24 hour period. The office, besides having the thermostat for the P43 in there, also houses the weather station receiver. The highs/lows are 24 hour period. Oh, and never mind the time it is displaying, I took that picture at 3:56 am so it runs about 20 minutes fast - like all of my manually set clocks .
