Here's a topic I've not seen discussed. We all have wood stoves and can keep home temps into the 70's. But what about the bedroom? We have an open floor plan, in a ranch-style house. The woodstove is in the living room, about 60ft from the bedroom. Being the furthest room from the stove, suits us just fine. No process in place to move warm/cool air. 63⁰F works for us. Currently, it's 37⁰ outside, 72⁰ inside. Bedroom at 65⁰. I just cracked open the window, to cool the bedroom further. So, what's your preferred bedroom temperature, for sleeping? Horseplay temps are different.
I have sleep apnea and insomnia and have done a lot of reading about it. Experts say 67 degrees is the perfect sleeping temperature. Sent from my moto g(7) power using Tapatalk
We have a boiler and radiant heat. Downstairs zones are set at 68. Upstairs where bedrooms are is master bedroom and bathroom 64 other zone up there is off and temp was 62 earlier today. Daughter is currently home on winter break and says to not turn the heat in her room on. We are getting ready to gut our bedroom to do all the flooring so will move into the spare room and I’ll probably turn the heat on then.
We have a ranch style home with the insert on one end of the house and bedrooms on the other end. Wife likes to have temps between 60 and 65 in the bedroom or complains it is too warm. At least I have lots of covers to keep warm.
Well, those temps all depend on Mama Bear's temps, at this point in her life those fluctuate radically. On any given night we may have the windows closed & several layers of blankets while she is still cold & I am on the verge of a heat stroke OR the windows/doors open, a light blanket & my teeth are chattering.
Our bedroom stays at 19 C/66 F basically year round with the window just opened a bit at night. Having the bedroom in the basement keeps the temps pretty even. Upstairs the thermometer stays set at 23 C/ 73 F. As we have a wood fired water boiler with hot water baseboard heaters, the house temps don't fluctuate that much.
Even temperatures from a central furnace is often touted as a feature or a good thing. I prefer the spread of a nice warm home with cooler bedrooms. In the 60s is good for sleep. Makes you pull up the covers and the wife gets closer!
68 and above during winter (so I keep my thermostat set at 69). My electric company just put out an email that said to keep the heat set at 65. Any lower than 68 and my nose is freezing. I hate that and can't sleep - it will wake me up. I usually sleep on the couch with a light blanket. At the very end of the pellet stove's cycle it may get up to 78* in the living room. If all 3 cats are laying on top of me, that is a bit much and I'll wake up briefly. But, it is very short lived as the cold air cycles out of the bedrooms.
65 to 68 works well for me and I can’t sleep if it’s too hot in the room the house usually stays around 73
68 to 70 when cold out, when we get those warmer days have had it 75 even up to 80 and have to open a window for a while
I can sleep in most temperatures but if too cold it seems I wake up with a bad headache. Warm is okay if it is not humid but the hot humid nights are tough to handle. As most know, our house stays mostly around 80 all winter but because of the humidity I don't like it that warm in summer.
Chaz likes the temps on the cold side for sleeping. I have seen it in the 50s. That's fine with me as we have a sheet, electric blanket and a quilt on the bed. I am very good a turning up the blanket as needed.
Those electric blankets, or mattress pads, also do a great job of preheating the beds for an extra cozy start to your evening. It's my job to shut it off when I get in.
