Sorry I missed y'all yesterday. Our daughter had a college friend come over for a visit, she left her house kinda late, our daughter calls me about 11PM, the friend had just left, missed a road, turned on her GPS, and it lead her into this...
Could we pull her out...
Well, the tractor and chains were 20 miles away at the log site. Was able to get a friend with 4WD truck to come over for the rescue. Time we got home and cleaned up, got in bed about 1:30 or so. We had to get up early Tuesday to pick up a friend to help haul more wood by 8:00 AM.

 

Good morning y'all. Hope y'all haveba WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY. It is 65° right now......good chance of rain the rest of the week......since I took night shift off......oh well, the GOOD LORD knows what we need. We did get more wood hauled home Monday and Tuesday, hope to get some more today...
Won't be long till time. Supposed to pick up our friend again today.

Good morning. My wife and I are getting ready to head up north through early next week. Our youngest son is driving up with us, and our middle son is coming up after work on Friday. Happy New Years…stay warm!

Just at freezing with a touch of snow/ice around.

I'll be having lunch with a friend that has had a tough time over the past week with family challenges. IE: his daughter lost out on an adoption at the very last minute. It seems to have been very emotional for everyone involved. I hope a change of pace will help him to move forward.

Similarly, on our honeymoon in 2000, we arrived in Lincoln NH to their first snowfall of the year. Dinner was at the Red Fox Tavern: the place was darn near empty, we sat alone near the fireplace, and by a big bay window. The christmas lights were on, snow was falling, and the lobster bisque was top notch.
Thanks for the memory jog, and congratulations on 53 years. Your day sounded delightful.

A few years ago, we observed our 40th anniversary, with a weekend at Bretton Woods NH, at the "Fancy Redroof Inn" that's there.



Real nice are and place to stay. We've been a few different times, but being the big spender that I am, we never went without a 2nights-for-1, coupon.

Maybe start a thread (ok perhaps a PM) about what yall did/are doing to stay married that long, and pitfalls the youngers can learn from. Yall didn't get where you are without a lotta work, stressy moments, tears, unbelievable joy.....some of you have made through some unbearable circumstances.

In our case, no kids and no debt.

We're the ones that have to teach nieces and nephews the things parents can't. Like, lighting off illegal bottle rockets, for example.

Additionally, space. Each side of a marriage, needs space.

 

Good afternoon! Yesterday's rain turned to slush and snow. We had to run to Menards last night for a post for a project and another battery for the F350. After putting the battery in, I moved the truck out of the barn, dropped pallet forks and put a bucket on the skid steer. It did an admirable job clearing 2-3" of wet stuff off 400' of driveway. It's staying in the mid-30s today. Hopefully it gets cold enough to freeze so I can get back to splitting and stacking. Putting the drum kit back together at church tonight after the platform was extended this week.

A guy called today looking for wood. Upon inquiry, I found he wanted his dump trailer filled with dry wood. No can do. And he may have waited a little too late in the season... Have a God day!

Afternoon all. Upper 30s and overcast. Had fog this morning that didn't lift till about 11:15. Had my pre-surgery physical rescheduled again. It will be the day before surgery. I have to go for a covid test tomorrow and Chaz has get some shots.
