    My youngest son and I removed a hairy, big dead oak at my FIL's on Sunday afternoon, the tree was injured over 50 years ago when he originally bought the property by the guy digging his septic field out. The tree still thrived for years after that incident but has been in a steady decline for the past 15 years or so, it was starting to shed big stuff so it was time for it to go. Was right along the township road and directly against his home/cable/electrical service lines. Had to climb to almost the top and remove several big leads that were tangled into the healthy white oak neighboring it. Lots of smaller stuff shook loose while ascending it. Didn't get any climbing climbing pics but my son got a vid of dropping the rest of it.

    Yes it was hairy to climb too, but it went to plan perfectly. Took off all the stabber limbs and intertwined stuff, laid it perfectly with very few dents in the wet yard. He was ecstatic to get it down.

    Nope, even put him to work on the clean-up crew! Some of you guys may have met him at Dennis' 2019 GTG, he came with Dan, Joe and I that year. He really enjoyed it too. Hoping to take him again this spring.

    Great job, I would've parked my truck a 1/4 mile away... I took down a large double trunked red oak last year, it was full of red oak borer holes. It had been dead for years, was solid wood and had a ready to burn MC level. I'm saving it for January and February. Great firewood.

    Nice work boss! Those trees get a little sketchy sometimes for sure. It's always better when ya don't spike a limb 2' deep into the lawn. Guaranteed to get a line of some sort every time. Hope your FIL does make it again this spring Neat guy.

    We've done a few....lol.

    The tree had a slight lean the way we needed to fell it, but I still set a tag line in the tree up in the top when I climbed it to take out the intertwined limbs, just for insurance.

    As for my old truck, that's my beater I use for tree removals....it's seen worse....and it's insured....;)
