My favorite vintage saw for last. I have a few of these but none of the rest are like this score off the Grand rapids MI Craigslist a year ago or so. Last year made, 1976. I opened the box. Took Video to have future verification. Wife had the display case made. All the literature and a soft case were in the box.
I got my 357 up and running after porting it. third tank of gas after porting 14.7 seconds 72DL .375 full comp full chisel square filed chain
I was able to get out and get one of the log piles bucked and stacked today. I have about 5 more cords in logs that need skidded out of the woods to be bucked and about 15 cord already bucked on pallets that needs split yet... I'm always behind... But I had all three saws out today and enjoyed running them all I ran a full tank of gas through each of the saws and had to go re-fuel the 362C to finish noodling some of the last bigger rounds. Since I cut at 21 - 22" for my woodstove I really need to get a 24" light bar for the 357 so it can share the noodling duties with the Stihl. The 357 is fun to run and cuts fast, but it is a gas hog compared to the strato 362C.
I am the not so happy new owner of a Stihl 241. A couple of fellas were wanting one so I called & checked to see if was still there, yes it was & they were interested. I went & bought it. One of the fellas never replied back & the other wanted a NIB. So I gots a new saw sitting in the back room. It has a bit of surface rust on the muffler & chain from sitting on the shelf for over a year. If I had know I was going to get stuck with a saw I would of bought the 400 or the 461 sitting there.
This saw has never been fired? Its the M-Tronic version i assume. I wonder what the insides look like from setting. A 241 is the next saw I planned on buying. I'm interested. PM me and we can talk.
I’m impressed every time I open the caps and they’re attached by chains. I’ve gotten used to flippys, but dislike the string and ball connection that comes out of the slot.
No, I don’t use it much. Haven’t even dulled the chain since I got it. It starts easy and runs strong, so I like it. Just never had a 60cc saw, so I’m figuring out what size wood it’s best suited for. Typically I’ll use the 261 and a 70cc saw. Sometimes it’s just too many choices. Ordered a quad axle dump of gravel today, so I don’t buy another saw.
Chain Saw Collectors Corner Your Host I’m sure a lot of you visit Mike Acre’s site. If you haven’t visited the Your Host tab, here’s an interesting read Thanks Mike
Huh. Not sure where I got the idea they came both ways. Maybe on the European site both are available.
