I know nothing of these "fireplace" things, but about fell over when I saw the posted price. Anybody know if there's some "artsy" value or something here that I'm missing?
I read somewhere that style was coming back into favor among certain non-firewood heating types. Plus it’s mid century style, and stuff of that period seems to pop up in people’s tastes every now and then.
I’m not sure of the draw to them but have seen similar up for the same money. A buddy married into a family with a lake side cabin that was only used in spring/summer /fall. There was one of these in it. We tried to use the cabin for ice fishing a couple times brought a ton of wood and was always cold it didn’t heat worth a darn.
Ha, yeah & so am I, but I'm betting the going rate ain't the same. I had no clue on those things. I had a chance at one for $ 100.00 a couple years back & thought I might put it on my deck. Shoulda bought it I guess.
I stayed at a place with one, avocado green shag, harvest gold appliances, and this fireplace was 60's orange. Seemed like an afterthought to add a freestanding fireplace imho.
The people buying that would be the same ones that buy that artisanal firewood that pops up here every now n then...
Scrap must be very high in that part of the world. Now Fodue on the other hand has my full attention The topic was actually discussed/reminisced at family Xmas! The good old days. It was a fad when I was growing up. Good (dangerous) fun. Much like the rest of the 70's-80's
