I don't know who my Secret Santa is but they have good tastes! I actually cried when I opened this.

Sorry I didn't get a good picture but I need to make a place to hang it (4' mimimum!).

Whoever it is, thank you very much.

Would it fit above the wood storage on your porch? It's beautiful.

I genuinely hope you like it, because it was a BEEOITCH to make. I'll do a thread on the build of it soon.

I sincerely apologize, I wanted to polish to a mirror finish but there is a reason it wasn't....the more I sanded and polished it (finer and finer grits) the emblem was getting more and more illegible. Unbeknownst to me, those 1950s embossed McCulloch bars are hot-dipped in zinc. And the embossing is in the zinc, not the actual steel. So that's the reason it's a bit more rustic than I wanted it to be. I had dreams of a mirror finish on that thing, but it would've taken the uniqueness away from it.

It's still 100% safe to use a s a flipper because the zinc is safe so long as it's not heated to gasification (which can only happen if you heat the metal to red). That is some seriosuly hard tool-grade steel and I had to split the bar down the middle (with over 1.5 dozen 7" cut off wheels and a ton of time) to make the blade. The handle is also part of the bar (the hanging hole is a original stinger handle hole from the bar tip), hot-riveted permanently to the blade. I had intentions on make two flippers (there is embossing on both sides of the bar) but the other side had to be sacrificed. That other side will be made into two boning/fillet knives down the road soon.

Anywhoo, I thought you'd like that Kevin. It's a one-of-a-kind flipper, I'm betting the only one on earth! Merry Christmas brother and THANK YOU for all you do here on the site AND at the GTG's. You most certainly are extended family to me!

I don't know how to thank my Secret Santa whom I didn't even know I had. TurboDiesel this was so nice of you. Mrs. Mt Man took the bowl and has plans for where it goes and what she will put in it, and showing her friends. So the beautiful hand made present is a huge hit. Thanks so much!! 20211224_075716.jpg 20211224_075732.jpg 20211224_075739.jpg

Thank you for all the kind words, everyone! I do love making bowls.
    Especially with spalted maple.
