After recently reinstalling my hastings (was unhooked due to building an addition) I'm occasionally getting water running down the pipe. It's a straight through the roof install. I ran a bead of high temp stove sealant around the rain collar but it keeps drying up and flaking off. I'm assuming it's not exterior rated although it say nothing about it on the tube. I never had this problem when it was installed before but I can't remember what I used to seal the collar. Can I just use regular roofing tar sealant? Thanks and Merry Christmas!
Back when I had a roof jack and a smoke dragon, pretty sure I just used a high quality silicone sealer,like exterior house. But I see a newer product-- From Heckler's Foil Putty Tape Storm Collar & Flashing Sealer $0.75 3″ wide foil tape with caulk adhesive backing. Absolute best to seal storm collars. To use, peel protective backing from back of tape and apply, Lasts for years. Also use to seal flashings to metal roofs. Sold by the foot, PLEASE order how many feet you want. We ask that you order at least 4 foot.
