Lookin don't cost nuttin...its the findin part that gets spendy! Doesn't hurt to keep you eyes peeled for a nice lil HD trailer for low $...I've been keeping my eyes peeled for just the right unit myself...no hurry, have several I can borrow if really needed.
Very impressive pile. Always fun to watch it grow. Grab it while the gettins good. How many truck loads/trees on the ground yet? You could always sell some of the extra off at some point in time.
Nice size tree down… I need to tidy up these hinges. I keep getting close at the end I’m cutting. Should be no problem, just need to slow down a little. All but one of these have been fell with wedges. Still some wood left from this haul. I sawed up the top for dad. We’ll be back maybe tomorrow. Here’s dads load: I plan to get help with the Bobcat next tree. I just want some insurance it doesn’t go back into those wires.
Nice size tree and loads. Yes sir, be careful cutting the hinge like that. I was cutting a big 3 stem sweet gum and cut through the hinge on the off side, was using wedges. When it started moving, it headed for the tractor with my wife sitting on it. She saw it coming and got the tractor out of the way. We were both shaking after that. I learned to slow down and get the hinge right. Get your hinge thickness set on the side you are cutting from, then rotate the saw into the tree. Hope that helps...
Epic day in the honey hole today. Started with the rotten fella. Had Tony use the Bobcat to keep if from going back into the power lines. I completely wore right hand out beating wedges. It took a good bit of lift to get it moving. He didn't want to sit in it incase dead limb wood fell so no assistance witht he push. All went as planned. XS365 tore that chit up! Left the stump high enough to create a ramp to roll rounds up. Dad's dog Isabel. Worked out really well. Got dad a heck of a load! These short days suck! Was dark by the time we got home. Also had Bobcat push this one over for me. It was leaning heavily towards the lines. Loaded up my truck with dad's wood.
Here it is bucked. 357 ftw. Pics from the dozen or so other tree's I fell. In the wood is an understatement. This one fell on a stump. This tree did a little barber chair. Hinge was good, first time it ever happened. Left about 5' of a sliver, you can see where I stopped the back cut and where I cut it off the stump. I was probably about 10-12' back from the stump, watching w/ my dad when it did that. Another shot of that load, because. lol And our ramp. Will use this for at least 2 more trees that need to come down right beside that location.
Amazing amount of primo wood Jason. You guys are swimming in chestnut oak. Has dad decided on the insert or not?
