Fog, fog, fog. It is Fogust here - that time of summer where the fog doesn't lift until 11:00 AM and rolls back in around 3:00 PM. So far it hasn't been too bad but it is foggy tonight.

I went to drive down a dirt lane today and this was blocking it. These guys came up about 100 yards short of the runway. Miraculously nobody got hurt. Looks like they had to find a different ride home.

knowing a little bit about aviation, its always amusing to read articles like that.... the reporter doesn't have a clue.

"...The plane should have aborted the landing and looped around when it ran out of runway space..." - should have done a go-around or circled around to reenter the pattern. They certainly where not going to loop that thing.

"..Vincenzo Tempesta tried to gain altitude, but the engine stalled, causing the plan to crash ..." - Certainly the pilot said he stalled, but he meant aerodynamic stall, aka a sudden loss of lift. In other words he pulled back on the stick in a panic, climbed too steep, lost airspeed and then the wing stalled, nose down hard and he fell like a rock into those trees. Pilots would almost never use the term stall to mean engine, they say "experienced an engine out" or "dead stick".

Those guys where very lucky indeed.

My new carb came in tonight so I finished the swap.

Again this one is slightly different than the one I took off so I had to mod the throttle arm a bit to make my link fit and do a few other adjustments. And Ill have to tune it from scratch again. But hopefully the starting problem is fixed for good.

Just came home a little while ago from the movie theatre.
My daughter called earlier and wanted to see the premiere
"Let's be Cops", so my wife and I tagged along.

It was pretty funny, only cried laughing once.
Best part was, never been to an AMC theatre before.
electric controlled reclining chairs, so comfortable!

No flaps applied higher means a higher stall speed !

Made a mess of the yard again today. This time it was the front yard though. No before pics. Thought I had some and don't like to carry my phone when doing that kind of stuff. 20140813_162442.jpg Not the best pic but that was about a 50-60 foot pine tree. All stacked and ready to go through the chipper Friday morning hopefully.
