It’s been a very busy fall around here getting firewood delivered which I had wrapped up a few weeks ago. I then got covid (wasnt too sick), had deer season and my wife’s birthday to add to the mix. This morning we slaughtered our two cows along with two at my moms neighbors house. I didn’t feel like running a saw after cows but I have a few college kids home looking for work so I put in a little trigger time to get one started tomorrow. All oak and Goldilocks size. Pictures of the cows all quartered up where they will hang for a couple a weeks, a shot of fresh cut oak, and a tasty beverage I had while helping the wife bake Christmas cookies.
You had a heck of a day! That's a lot of beef hanging in your garage. Must be pretty chilly up there to hang in the garage... And that pile of WO ought to keep one busy for a while at least!
Almost perfect hanging weather. The garage is cinderblock with a concrete floor so it’s maintains a fairly consistent temperature. 38-42 is our target temperature.
never knew you used a chain saw to slaughter cows!!! Hope you cleaned them up good...the saws that is. Gotta get to it sooner or later and sure beats a 90* day for sure.
Nice! Steak, firewood & beer, seems like a decent day to me. Soooooo....... the march to 300 has begun?
Looks great! Before I got on the fire department, I was a meat cutter in a small Italian butcher shop. So, I appreciate the hanging beef! I also love cookies and beer! That seems like a great day!!
Years ago when I was a kid my dad had a buddy fill his saw with vegetable oil and used the saw to split it in half down the spine. Worked quickly but bone chips were everywhere. Never did it again.
Its a lot when you work a regular full time job already for sure. Visited my buddy's woodyard. Did a few video's. Uploaded his 765 HP wood grinder this past Friday. There's a thread on it in the Chainsaw forum. He said he'll hit 2,000 cords sold this year.
I usually don't visit the chainsaw forum but will check it out. Assuming at 2,000 cords, he's fully automated?
I remember when he started in the 90's he had one old American brand splitter. Then he had a couple Timberwolfs, I believe TW5's. Then a couple Super splits and a Timberwolf TW6, now he runs a Rapido Loco 20" processor that does 5-7 cords an hour and a couple Super splits for the stuff the processor wont do. I'll have videos on his operation in the coming weeks. He has a pretty big company. Does tree work, excavation, firewood, makes mulch, and a separate company for wood debris disposal. I think he has around 25 employees.
Sawzall with a 12 TPI blade does pretty well. Chainsaw was discussed & rejected for that very reason.
