Im not sure about stoves, but last year I wanted to get another Cat for my Lopi. I went to my local guy who I bought the stove from. It may have cost a little bit more but he's a local small business owner and I try to support those as much as I can. Anyway, he said 4 months out. I was like wow.
I did end up buying one online, because I was worried the old one wouldnt hold up to the job during coldest months.

I've been waiting for everyone to figure out we have to keep living. I wonder if we have done ourselves more damage than the disease. Yes we need to carry out safe practices, but if we dont work we don't survive either. Wood stoves may not be on the essential job list, but for the guy welding them together they are essential to his buying groceries & making house payments. The alternative involves restructuring society.

True, but industry wide those are more the exception rather than the rule...(and I'm sure prices are up a goodly amount there too) ...steel rules in wood heat...

Common sense things like washing your hands after touching things like door handles at work or the card reader buttons at the store where things of people have touched are no brainers. Starting home when you're sick is another, but employers haven't been so great at time off for that. They are learning.... There's a ton of things that are simply wise to do, and not do.

Come on, not a fan of him either but this has been in the making for years.
When we moved our plants to china, switched to JIT manufacturing, any kink in the chain causes issues and this one showed how screwed globalism is and why you don't send your manufacturing overseas.
If we would ever get into a legit war, we are done. We can't replace what is destroyed fast enough., We don't have the resources ready to go, we consolidated industries into giant hubs.
1 missile strike on the Oklahoma oil storage and we are fscked, or also texas, this country won't move for a year or more.
Or maybe another computer hack that locks down pipelines for more than a week.
Don't blame him alone, blame the last 10 + presidents all the way back to Nixon at least and everyone one of us for being compliant and not being loud enough when jobs are eliminated.
We sent our blast furnaces to China, we let them dump cheap crap back on us and than we complain...

I don't disagree with you, plenty of blame to go around, but still stand by my post that you replied to...not gonna say much more than that...can't really, things will get very political, very quickly...no need for all that.

    "Sent". LOL
Chasing the cheap coal and minimal environmental constraints to operate them. Chinese government subsidies sweetened the deals.
Cheap energy is a strong base for a thriving economy.
Current constraint policies on traditional energy sources are hamstringing ours.
These things/changes really need to be implemented gradually with a modicum of common sense, not (out of spite and) with the stroke of a pen and a phone.

With all the anti corruption laws out there and penalties, I'm surprised that this happened. These laws and protections don't outlaw going with the better price though.;)

LOL our prisons aren't large enough to actually support total and unbiased enforcement of the current anti-corruption laws.

I ordered a Progress Hybrid to heat my main floor, and hope to move the FireView to the basement for occasional use.

I really enjoy the FireView, but:
1.) It's a bit under powered for my 1,800 sq ft house. The square footage isn't the issue so much as the cathedral ceilings... It feels like the additional ceiling space makes the house about 1/3 bigger in volume than it would be with flat ceilings.
2.) I'm hoping for longer burn times, as the FireView is down to ~250 degrees on the stove top after ~10 hours or so. It would be nice to get a couple of more hours of useful heat out of a stove. 12 hours would fit my lifestyle pretty well, I think.
3.) I'm adding about 250 sq feet more to the house by building out 10' into the garage this winter.

Occasional use would be if I want to work in my unfinished basement for a couple of hours. I realize I'd send a lot of heat out into the ground, but just warming the basement up by 5-10 degrees for a couple of hours feels like it would be a game changer for me wanting to spend an evening reloading or whatever down there when it's cold out.

I am endeavoring to buy American (or Canadian) mfgd products. They are frequently better anyway. Not always easy when a Ford is mfg in Mexico while a Toyota is mfg in Tennessee. Still cant bring myself to buy a sucky product though. I'll choose European over Chinese if those are the choices.

Anybody know if there is a good American made solar panel? Last time I looked the Germans & Japanese were leading contenders, and the Chinese were making a bid. Seems funny 2 countries not known for copious amounts of sunshine would invest in solar technology.

Sounds like a great plan. My humble opinion about the Progress is that it is the most beautiful stove on the market... second only to the FV. Sounds like you have a great set up. Would love to see photos when you have it all together.

We're a woodstove dealer and blaze king is one of our stoves we sell among many others. Across the board with every manufacturer there are significant delays. Reasons being, material, trucking, short staff, and heavy demand.

It sucks but be thankful you have a date. There are many Harman pellet stoves with a lead time of 24 weeks! We're still waiting on a Pacific energy insert since January of '21 to arrive! It's been almost a year!
