Hope everyone had a safe and productive Saturday!? Daughter borrowed my big truck so I was stuck with her little Ford today. Got the rest of the little oak cleaned up and split a BUNCH of wood this afternoon. Pile is pushing 7’ tall.... was too busy to take many photos but will after I finish up in the morning. Weather is finally cold enough to work and not get worn out. Here is the rest of the oak and the 3rd biggest round from the Ash tree. This one round made a bunch of splits ! 14B03DAE-EE3D-482C-B9D1-8EC928E15AE5.jpeg F0FDED55-FAF8-4604-9989-37F728CAD2AF.jpeg

I hauled a lot of wood with the Sport Trac I used to have. Great little truck.

    And that's one BIG round!

Safe yes …. Productive? Not like I’d hoped. Sharpened 2 chains and got 3 saws ready to go. Finally finished bucking up my honey locust score ( one log used most of a 28” bar ), grabbed a little bit of small walnut rounds left at a job I helped with this summer. I wanted to get all the honey locust split today but with an overnight low of 5*F and sitting in the shade the splitter didn’t want to run this afternoon when it got to 25*F. Got a little wood hauled in to the basement.
Supposed to be almost 50 tomorrow so the splitter should start.

Spent most of today finding a TV for the parents Christmas gift. Truck seemed extra loud and discovered some bolts rusted off on the exhaust, at least the cats are still there, so need to work on that tomorrow afternoon as I'm not use to this cold yet.

Wellllll....I thought I would at least get a few things done outside. Knew we would be going shopping, didn't think we would leave as soon as we did. Sooo....spent the whole day Christmas shopping with the wife and baby girl. The day didnt go totally how I thought it would, but that's ok, it was a great day!

A good bit of the time was spent in a phone store upgrading the wife's phone, so that wasn't the most pleasant part of the day. But we did get some stuff done, and ate at a new to us Indian restaurant which was excellent. And we finally got some decent rain and it's till raining a bit, so very happy for that.

Sounds like a busy and productive day, but in the concrete forest instead! We have 9 kids and this year we asked if they wanted us to buy and wrap etc or give them money and take them to the mall or whatever. They all said shopping so that’s on the books for today. I am taking the boys and the tomboy and heading to Bass Pro in a bit. Wife will take the other ladies and go wherever ladies go to shop. I am guessing I will be home in plenty of time to get outside and finish up.

And if it doesn't work out that way, I'm sure your time will be happy and productive! We have at least a 45 minute drive to get to much shopping, Bass Pro or another big hunting/fishing store is another 20-30 minutes, so going that way eats up a good bit of a day when we go.

Yeah we are about an hour from bass pro. We do have a Walmart and a feed store about 15-20 so that isn’t too bad

Change of plans. Wife and kids were sleeping in so I finished it up. A few smalls and uglies left but that can wait. No we just got to stack it. I am rearranging my whole wood yard this winter and not getting in a rush on that until the tree jobs slow down. Ugh! I don't wanna sound like a know it all, but those are pressed studs. You can punch them out & replace with bolts easy enough, but be careful of bending those flanges, it won't seal correctly. Don't ask how I know that.:picard:

Didn't have any luck getting them out so cut 2 of the 3 off and drilled new holes for 2 bolts. Much quieter now and will get the last one taken care of after the first of the year. I'm sure it wasn't the best way to do it, but the truck is a long ways for perfect.

I didn't do nearly as much as I planned today, but I did get a lot of sticks and twigs picked up and burned that were on my lawn after the 70 mph wind storm we had. I also came up with a new way to cover the boxwood shrubs in the front of the house, they sure grew a lot this year. Looking forward to story with weeks so I can get some more work done.
