Dang nice out there today. Had to get near 60º's if not higher? Got my butt outside. Picked up the sticks, finished up the leaves, Ran the power cord to the chicken hut and put the sn*w tires on me buggy. By the time I finished I was in a t-shirt.

Got the new sn*wblower delivered last night :emptywallet:.

Thank you to Bob at MB Tractor in Eliot, ME. Sold me the machine $450 under MSRP while everyone else with stock on this model is getting MSRP or more. Also delivered to me in NH which meant no sales tax. Great people to work with!!!

Looks like I may have to break it in Saturday or Sunday

Frankly, I would have zero issue spending the money and not having to use it :p

The Kubota dealer in Plaistow NH used to be called Mears Trust. They sold out...or merged...with MB. That was always my go to place for parts, new or used. They used to have an auction every Fall where they would sell the trade ins, the broken junk, everything. Whatever was left after the auction had a fixed price. I think $50 or less. I bought a Bobcat snowblower for $50 and all it needed was the gas tank and float bowl drained of water. What a beast! Had it for many years.

Luckily, I did the same 4 weeks ago. Started 2nd pull, ran it, checked everything and thought I was good but the tracks stopped moving as I was about to put it back in the garage.

Took it apart and found gear box between hydro tranny and drive shaft had a stripped shaft from a seized bearing. Ordered parts, took two weeks to get, found that i needed another part that they said would be two more weeks to get and called it quits.

If it were September or even October, I would have kept going but now at $400 in parts on a 15 year old heavily used machine and winter knocking on the door its time to move on.

Engine, tranny, augers, auger gearbox all going on CL for sale to recoup some $$

My snowblower had gotten loud as hell. I found out a previous repair someone did the muffler gasket was paper. It had burned out and some exhaust was bypassing the muffler.

New metal gasket and new muffler and it’s amazingly quiet. It’s a 1994.

my snowblower fired right up, after I plugged it in!
But seriously, getting older,I bought a small electric one last year, for the deck, as the deck gives me some relief from the cats if I remove the snow, and sometimes it can be a lot of shoveling.

Yesterday's high was 48* and heavily overcast/drizzly most of the day. Not complaining but other parts of the state saw sun and made a run at 60*. Turned in for the night and it was 46*. This morning, at 2:15 am it was 58* (high temp today me thinks). It has dropped to 55* (3:07 am). Supposed to get 4-8" of snow Saturday. Hope the ground freezes between now and then!

Unseasonably warm here as well, IOW a muddy mess. The mail delivery guy made the mistake of trying to come in the barn side entrance (for what reason I have no idea) yesterday and got his delivery truck stuck and I had to pull him out with one of the tractors. Muddy mess.

Did my snowblower prep a few weeks ago, fired right up but it's only 2 yrs old and I drain the tank every spring.

Am curious if anyone has done the impeller mod to a snowblower (cut thick rubber/truck mudflap to fit each impeller paddle & bolt them on). Leaves a very small gap between paddle edge and housing so you get more throwing power and no clogging with wet or heavy snow.
See a lot of YouTube videos on it, a lot by small engine repair shop owner/techs who swear by it. Of course it does make you wonder why mfgrs don't just increase the length of the paddles or add a rubber or silicone edge to the end of the paddles.

Never have had to do it, but can tell you,on older blowers that had the rubber or plastic replaceable edges, it was very common to replace them when performance would drop. Seen on the net, a new and old edge,Toro, 1/2" difference from wear, and with the new the trowing distance was way further. Logically it makes sense.

50 deg outside today. Ground had begun to be pretty frozen but now its not

Just spent almost 6 hours buttoning up outside, final winter packing the shed, re arranging so still can move in there. Took pics of the old sn*blower parts to try and sell off and got them all in the shed.

Took steel side auger housing skids off old blower and put on new blower until these come in. Hoping the longer skids help with the uneven, cracked, heaved etc condition of my asphalt driveway.

I got an older 8hp/27" craftsman blower that i did the impeller mod on, i does help throw the snow a little further but i don't think it was worth the aggravation to do it.

I got tired of them getting rusty so I put a set of polymer ones on when I had my last sn*wblower up in NY......best move I made. Can be turned upside down when they get worn.....but that was a loooong time. I'll bet you can get a set for your machine.
