Well, I'm still running the AC, and my computer desk still occupies the space where the IS will dwell...

But here at least is yet another FHC Internet exclusive, the first known photos of the new production model Woodstock Ideal Steel stove in its natural habitat, sporting charcoal grey body and light grey legs with the stunning and exclusive Fleur de lis design by Marie:

Thanks! I'm going to go crank up my AC in the bedroom, and snuggle up to read a new best seller.

Very nice Brian! What do you think of the ash drawer ?

    Any changes that you notice?

I'm thinking I will also know that 'new best seller' cover to cover. I'm sure it will make the rounds in my house in the first 2 weeks or so.
Nice vid and pics of the delivery. Very exciting times, I'm looking forward to my day in September when I collect my IS.
and holy crap batman, your crate says 700 lbs. Is that just the stove or crate an all included??
I'm thinking I'm going to strip the stove on the truck before I roll it into the house. The Oslo was 445 intact and I thought that was heavy. I'm sure the soapstone makes up a majority of the weight.

Brian, what are you initial thoughts having it uncrated and getting a look at the IS bible??

Ash drawer is awesome! I'm really excited about having the ash pan on this stove.

My Beta had a flue collar welded in place. This one can be set for either top or rear vent.

The whole stove is just much more refined, beefed up, and the door handle is a big improvement.

I still have to go over it with a fine toothed comb though. I uncrated it last night and hit the wall and didn't even end up reading the manual last night.

You're going to love it. Instead of a drawer, think of it as a coal sifting-ash management system. After two full winters, my ash pan compartment hasn't needed cleaned out, looks like it could go another couple of years. Very efficient system.

I think the stove weighs 650, the rest is packaging.

See my comment above. This stove is obviously more refined than the Beta unit. I didn't get a chance to do anything with the manual more than page through it quickly so I still need to read carefully and digest it.

This should be an interesting heating season with the new stoves making their way to members homes. I am also wondering how many new members will be signing up as they take delivery of their stoves.

I will be looking forward to see the other final designs members are getting. I like what I have seen so far.

Thank you to Woodstock for letting their customers be involved in the process of helping customize and showing sneak peeks on the design when it was in development. Top shelf.

Definitely. Yesterday when I was driving over to the shipping terminal to pick up the stove it was a nice sunny day at home but as I drove east I could see a thunderstorm on the horizon. I called Woodstock around 5:00 just to ask if I should tarp the stove in case of heavy rain. I didn't expect them to answer that late but Tom, the owner at Woodstock, answered the main line. Now that's service! He's always great to chat with.

Agreed, I'm in the middle of the customization process right now and so far so good. They will work with you until you are happy. Fingers crossed :)

This is the 2nd draft of the maple leaf artwork, Roughly 13" in dia. The stem will be moved to the left and slightly increased in size and the veining will be slightly enlarged at inner center sections.
WS has offered 2 different red colors, they are sending paint chips out via snail mail.
I'm very happy with how they treat their customers in this process. They have kept me informed and made suggestions that have made this less difficult. Top notch company!

So, did you tarp it? I agree that it is always nice talking to Tom and he is very easy to talk to.

Well, we never ran into the storm and managed to get back home without hitting rain so I didn't tarp it on the trip home. However I had to wait for my son and his friends to get home to bring it in the house so I did tarp it while another thunderstorm passed through while it was sitting on the trailer in front of the house. Their crating and packaging is pretty robust so I doubt it would have gotten wet regardless.
