Loaded truck pics.

How well do you like it? Is it everything you dreamed it would be.

 

It's a 16.5 Pro model that I've had for six or so years. For the most part it does what I need it to do for cleaning up and outperforms any of the smaller box store style chippers I have rented over the years, however it definitely does not have the same power as the larger commercial models. I've never used a PTO chipper so I cannot compare it to one of those. It's not perfect (for example the 'self-feeding' feature doesn't work as well as I had hoped) but overall, I'm pleased. I've chipped a lot of wood with it over the years and still haven't had to change out the blades (although it is probably due for a sharpening). It's also saved me a lot of trips to the transfer station burn pile over the years and I have my own source of wood chips.

 

A few future loads. Just loving the light bar on this thing. Sure is handy this time of year when it gets dark by 5:00. I wanted to get some of the bigger rounds noodled before stopping for the day.

I still have a couple hours of work to get this pile cut and stacked. Probably another 20 logs up on the 288 trail to be skidded down here to be processed. A few of those trees will be turned into swedish candles just for fun.

 

What light bar do you use? Lighting upgrade for my truck is on my list but don't know what I want to go with.

 

I got it used for free from friend. It pulls around 20amps so it's a 240 watt 42" light similar to this one. It has both flood and spot light sections. It is plenty of light for me to be out cutting or splitting and with a large battery I can get up to 3 hours of run time on it without starting the truck. It will probably last longer, but I prefer not to push it and end up with a dead battery out in the field on a dark night. It has cooling fins on the back and I had originally mounted it with the light facing the rear and used it splitting several evenings. When I drove to town, it whistled so bad it hurt my ears so I had to turn it around. It's easy to loosen the mount screws and flip it to the rear. It has swivel mounts on the ends. Look for that when you get one if you want to be able to roll it front to back easily.
