Both. Always gotta be on the alert for future inventory. Id prefer to restock in the cold, but with mother nature one never knows.

I sent out a text first of August to our customers that we were cutting and to place orders...all but 2 did and we added some new customers as well. Finally caught up last weekend. I think we have processed about 15 full cords since early June. A sample... Had some nice logs from tree service dropped off too. Had a few 40+" in there And we also cleaned up a twin oak blow down.... I think it was 5 trailer loads from there...
More dead pine came down today and then reduced in the outside fireplace, only eight trailer loads today.
Split and stacked some cherry and locust that i cut yesterday. These had the tops blown down from our last wind storm. Supposed to warm up this weekend to in the 60's and rain showers.
In picture 2572 are two dead pine in the middle of the picture, I felled the smaller one first and the bigger one second and then split some of the bigger stuff, it made for a nice hot fire. In picture 2578 you can see the stump I left.
Good seeing you too Locust Post , how's everyone in your family doing? We've been good so far, the wife cooked up a great meal for Thanksgiving that we enjoyed for almost a week . I promised her I would cook a gnocchi dish, I'm not sure if it will be for Christmas or before but hopefully I do a "gooder" job.
fire looks very inviting. Id be spending more time watching the fire than making firewood! Hope you checked moisture content on that pine...dont want a chimney fire!

Doing well here, had a good Thanksgiving. Heading toward Christmas at light speed. I do the holiday cooking and wife handles the baking. Have most everything gathered for the Christmas feast.
I had lots of stuff that was cleared from some trails (pine branches) we also lost tops out of two white pine back by the sandpit, one pine I cleared from the trail and the other is still there. Near the brook we lost a beech, the biggest part was rotten but I still had almost a full load that I brought home. Picture 2579 is part of a white pine that came down, 2580 is what mother nature left standing, 2581 is about 75 yards from 2579, 2583 is the same tree that's in the first picture but that part came down near the end of last winter (I think) 2584 is just the sun, 2585 is the trail opened up and the last three are the beech by the brook. I pulled out of the woods when a rotten branch off a birch came down about 20 yards from me, the winds were picking back up so it was time I cleaned the saw and called it a day.
Had several pines come down with the strong winds, my trails are open but ones leading to neighbors are still blocked off to buy more die
so when the sun poked through you went to the beech??? Perfect place to work on wood! How much snow cover will stop you from cutting on the trails?
It all depends on if there is ice underneath, I have some hills to climb so I don't plan on much cutting unless it's around the house this winter. I've been back in with the Rhino with a foot of snow with chains on the front and back hauling out beech, I don't plan on doing that anymore, we're set for wood starting the heating season with 66 face cord for our use. I would like to fell more ash off the back hill before any deep snow hits but the cleanup around the house lot will continue tomorrow. I also plan on burning a chit load of pine in the outside fireplace this winter, we have too much in log form from 2018. Hopefully the Rhino Voltage Regulator is in so that can get changed so we stop going through batteries, once that is done I'll get that geared up for cutting and the RTV can be used for both but usually we use it for plowing when it really gets cold. The RTV is great but I'm missing running the hills/around in the Rhino in the colder weather.

I had a new relay switch along with a new voltage regulator put on the Rhino, hopefully that stops it from making the battery go bad. With the old regulator on with the Rhino running, the battery was getting 18v, with the new one it was reading just over 14v. I did some clearing in the back gully, part of a rotten basswood came down across the trail so I through it up the hill some. After clearing a few more trails around the house, I grabbed this smaller beech by the Brook, this was southeast of the one I grabbed yesterday. Picture 2590 is the rotten basswood, 2591 is the tree it came from, 2592 is the beech by the Brook, 2593 is the best of the beech and 2594 is the worst of the beech.
Today I made the rounds on each side of the Brook. Picture 2601 is a widowmaker off the trail, 2602 & 03 are the top of a white pine blown out of the tree in pic 2603, 2606 though 2611 is a damaged beech I brought home and 2613 & 14 is part of an ironwood that I left, it was damaged from an ash I grabbed earlier in the fall and that came home too.
