Real inventory problem, doesn’t bode well for long term economy.

I received the deposit on out timber harvest, leaving me just a few weeks to make capital purchases. Called power sport dealers in my area. No inventory and no idea when they will get more. It was pointless for me to order and pay now. my tractor dealer has no tractors to sell and a minimum of a year before hoping to get any new.

this is becoming a matter of great importance- People have need to spend and upgrade, but no way to do it. Dealers can’t survive this much longer.

we have a multi trillion dollar spending Bill, yet what infrastructure can be repaired if materials can’t be had.

I foresee some major economic problems coming simply because those with money for projects can’t spend it, thereby helping the rest of the business world, large and small.

It is a different time we’re living in for sure. It’s even hard to source needed parts to keep old equipment going these days.

My neighbor parked a little Kubota B series with a cab, loader, and 120 hours out by the highway last week. I checked it out and he was asking $28K for it. Holy.

It was gone in days. I don't know what the buyer paid for it, but dang.

If this is the price to pay for becoming less dependent on communist china, would you be willing to pay it?

With stagnant wages, it'll be difficult to afford anything.

Didn't we go through this in the 70's as well?

Wages are far from stagnant right now though. In my area labor rates are going up 2-3% per quarter. I've never seen wage increases handed out multiple times per year but that's what we're doing just to maintain staffing.

I have read about companies paying higher wages, but it hasn’t found my bank account yet.
I did see there are about 2800 billionaires in the world. I think much of the inventory and supply issues are manufactured for an excuse to raise prices and cause people to hoard and panic buy making the string pullers richer. I heard that 3 corporations own the majority of ammunition manufacturers and that shortage was created to jack up prices to increase corporate profit. Ford is no longer taking deposits for the Lightning. Either people don’t give a crap about how much debt they have or the economy is working really well for a lot of folks I can’t figure it out. People are buying used c8 corvettes for more than new ones. Are they going to stop making trucks and corvettes and no one told me?

Real shocker, right. :headbang: I "heard" (take it for what you will) with potential monetary penalties, these cargo ships have greatly sped up off-loading. So this is just another instance of creative profit generation.
We just bought a used vehicle. Salesman said they are getting 10k above sticker for the new Ford Bronco, if you can find one. He recently demolished his car hitting a deer and instead of buying into a new overpriced one, he decided to lease for 2 years to let the market cool down. It's nuts right now. He11 I just wanna cruise for a while and weather the storm. How much new stuff do we need?

Our economy is dependent on people spending so you gotta keep ‘em spending. Spend more to get it now because there’s not enough. Covid is the best thing to ever happen to millionaires and billionaires.

I am confident that the stock market opportunities related to the impact of COVID has created plenty of first time millionaires, as well. Of course a lot of them have been risking a while and now have been rewarded.

many of the companies I invested in have rebounded, and several others will be. It is certainly a good opportunity for us simply trying to improve ourselves. Ford alone has bounced back 150% from fourteen months ago. Cruise ship industry can still increase by over 200% in the next couple years

then the very wealthy have enhanced themselves very well .

I keep getting a letters in the mail from the dealer for my 2019 car offering me $21K to take it back from me.
If we didn't have a baby I'd be so tempted to just do it and ride my motorcycle all year. (I pick her up from daycare after work every day.)

I became privy to a very high-end report exactly one week ago regarding omicron covid variant. Opinion of the high-priced presenter is that it has the potential to absolutely wreck everything. In fact, the uber wealthy person that invited me to be a bird-on-the-wire on the conference call (I am not a "member" of their very wealthy group) bailed out of all stocks and went to 100% cash. And he is a stock trader. Of course, he will jump back in for a rebound when he feels comfortable. But they are very, very worried.

Bottom line is that it is an uber-contagious variant and even IF it is not as deadly as Delta (and we do not know yet how deadly, how virulent it is), if massive numbers of people are sick at the same time, it would set us back bigtime. Overwhelm the hospital system, massive people off of work. Total shutdown very, very possible. The potential for people to panic. Just when we are coming out of Delta, might be a whammo and even worse. Also, it was warned that the media does not get it yet. In fact, the presenter's opinion is that hardly anybody gets it yet. (And he does not like to be wrong and could not be who he is by being wrong very often.)

Much uncertainty abounds, because it will be about two more weeks from now before they have enough data to make statistically-sound forecasts and projections. But these people are super rich, and they take safeguarding their wealth very seriously. And they are worried. The presenter's estimate for when the you-know-what will hit the fan is... becoming much, much worse from Christmas gatherings and in the first week of January... chaos. And the presenter hopes he is wrong but he makes his living calling stuff like this. Well, calling anything anything that affects the economy and markets.

Apart from being worried about the economy tanking, I take it seriously because 12 of my friends are dead from covid. I call that serious. The last guy was 40 years old, perfect health. If anybody thinks covid is overblown, and a huge chunk of America is there, that isn't my reality. Here's to omicron fizzling out!

    Far from that here.

The largest employer in our area announced this year that they will be shuttering operations here.

Many have already left, and others are hoping some other company will come in and purchase the operation.

But hey.. the fast food joints are offering $15/hr for part time workers.. so everything's comin up roses eh.

Inflation did run crazy then yet, those were my most prosperous working years. There were many crazy shortages too that never made sense.
