Never ever have enough css wood. Even if you think you do you are wrong( kind a like an argument with a female). I get the comments about quantity, Whats funny right now is the amount up at the shop was severely decimated by last winter so the comments are now about how far behind I might be, I'm not as there some 4000 cf css at the house in the rotation.

I get these comments, even from my wife - and Ive only got a measly 3-4 cord.

Whats even funnier is when relatives come over and they say " you have all that wood why don't you share, put some in my trunk will ya?"

Now that I got the truck Ive got basically unlimited acess to free wood in the log pile at the town dump. My MIL was over the other day visiting her grandkids "So you gonnna deliver to my place now that you have all this free wood?" In jest .... I think....

    Yea,
I've gotten that from almost everyone who stops by & most neighbors.
I start out explaining how the new modern catalytic wood stoves need really dry wood
& how it takes 2+ years to get wood that dry.
Then I start explaining how wood burns, & how wet wood creates creosote & other problems.

After a few minutes, they work hard to leave or change the subject,
& don't ask or comment next time they visit,
on my 3 year supply in the wood shed & 1 year supply out back seasoning.

I've yet to get all the way thru my explanation of my reasons for having so much wood.
They either think I'm nuts or
that I know a few things about fire wood that they don't & usually don't want to know.
    :D

    Dave,

Same here. I tried the explanation a couple of times and it never goes well. :loco:  I think in the future I'm sticking with "I'm nuts" right out of the gate and forget any explanation. :)

Funny thing is, we know some families that aspire to or are "preppies" knowing what could be in the future. They totally support our firewood hoarding habit. Some folks get it.

Oddly enough, the only neighbor I talk to tells me I need more. He used to have a wood stove but switched to pellet. I need a good Washington DC scrounge soon.
