Thats why I hardly go to bars anymore, unless the better half wants to go. I prefer to drink at home, and even sometime alone....Cant handle the stupidity. Been there done that.

I also need to report that I finally got caught up in the ALS ice bucket challenge.
Of all people, my wife nominated me.
So, as I dropped water and ice on my head I dropped
3 names as challenges. 2 from high school and my cousin in Colorado.

    It was fun (and cold).

This ALS awareness campaign has really taken off in this part of the country. We have people doing the ice bucket thing like 3x in a day, people calling out people all over the place. FB is cluttered with videos of folks dumping water on themselves.

Busy weekend. I dug all the root veggies out of the garden (beets, turnips, taters) and got a plot ready for the fall garden.

I got my mess of a wood "pile" somewhat organized to make mowing a little easier....stacked a little over a cord of splits and got the pile of rounds tightened up a little. I have close to a cord of walnut and cherry I need to get split and stacked, but I'm out of stuff to stack on.

I made about 20 jars of salsa last night. Was hoping for more but it didn't work out. Up to 36 jars for the year. Two more batches and I'm done.

Im tearing down the engine on one of my model planes. Its a 50cc two stroke but a custom design for RC called a desert Aircraft DA-50. Great little motor but it does have one problem, from the factory they ship them with a Walbro WT201 carb, and the main jet on the 201 are a bit undersized for this application so no matter how far you open up the HS screw you cant get it to run rich of peak at WOT. So most guys that have it either run the idle extra rich to compensate (which ruins transition and that really sucks because unlike a saw we spend a lot of time running these in the midrange on a plane) or swap another carb like a Walbro 76.

When I did the swap I couldn't find a 76, but there is a Chinese clone motor whose carb is a perfect swap, needles work right, and its cheap ($30) so that's also a common swap... All was good for 3-4 years till a couple weeks ago it wouldn't pump fuel... I had it all apart to put a carb kit into it figuring its the pump membrane dried out, but when I got it apart I notice this Chinese clone uses plastic inserts instead of brass welch plugs over the fuel jet passages on the regulator side - one of those plastic parts cracked and fell out. Time to order a new carb :(

While I was at that I noticed there is a lot of carbon in the chamber from rich idling so I pulled the jug to scrub it while Ive got the rest of it apart. I run this on old fashioned 32-1 with Penzoil aircooled dino oil... it gets some carbon but its soft and wipes right off with a rag.

This is the original jug, 7 years old:

Im just hoping my parts get here in time as there is a big RC fly in this Saturday I want to take this plane to.

Today I learned that kangaroos have the most incredibly soft fur. Not sure how useful a piece of knowledge that is but I was quite surprised when I touched it.

The ER is a real eye opener on how human behavior is changed when too much ETOH is consumed. Often just as outrageous as other substance abuse. I've sewn up cuts where the person decline numbing because they were already too numbed. Like you, I would love to have them have to watch a film of what they did and said.
