It's been rather chilly lately and the porch rack was almost empty. I wanted to wait until the snow melted but no deal. I could have got some from the barn or the totes which are by the porch but what the heck. Started tractor and went for a load. Now I hear if I'd waited until today the snow should be gone and weather getting warmer through next week. So it goes.

But as I was unloading, my poor back surely was screaming and wondering where Judy was.

God how I wish she was. I'd give all I have for that.

I consider it a privilege to have met Judy. Yes, a short visit, but one I will not forget.
Hey Dennis, those are some pretty big splits that you are loading. Does the Fireview do well with them? I have been using smaller ones.

She was by your side wishing she could help you!

Will you load the porch if its muddy or wait for firm ground?

    Thanks Tim.

Yes, I like to use at least one big one for nights. Generally I'll shove the coals to the front then put a large split or round in back on the bottom. Preferably one that fits tight against the back of the stove, then fill in from there. If the temp is to get below 10 then I want at least that big one to be oak.

It never gets muddy there. Actually there are not many places on our land where it does get muddy because we are on yellow sand. Ask WeldrDave about that. He was surprised when he saw it.

I am really surprised when I hear you say it every time. The first time I saw you write sand at your place I was thinking maybe sand up there to them is something different from what we can sand down here:rofl: . But 8f you say it really never is muddy then it must be sand..as in similar sand to what we have.

She did enjoy that and practically begged me to let her fill the wood rack. I think it was mostly to get her out of the house for some exercise because she used to always want to help whenever I went to the woods to cut. That I enjoyed.

It is just like beech sand or a sand dune.

Dennis my friend, I will admit to being at a loss for words. I think that's the first pics I've ever seen of Judy in long pants. I truly hope & believe she can she me smiling from where she's at.

We can grow some but they don't do extremely well. Haven't tried any for several years now.

    Thanks Adam.

For those who wonder who wonder about Adam's comment, it was common in winter to see her go for a walk wearing shorts but bundled up with carhartt and hood and mittens, but bare legs.
