Engine overheat help

If I had to I would go get one of those magnetic trailer light kits for $30, put em on the back of the truck, string the lights up through the back window (or wherever) then wire it up to some simple switches hooked to an aux power port on the fuse block or wherever, to make em work until...or maybe...maybe, they could just plug into the flat 4 trailer connector and it will work??? (I know, probably dead there too...just a swag)

When I bought my 2003 F250 it had no dash lights and the speedo/odo didn't work (among other things) and it turned out the fuse block was bad for this circuit...it had power through the fuse, but it wasn't making it out the back of the fuse block to this circuit (that fed a number of other little things) I ended up fixing it with an aftermarket fuse holder and a butt connector...just tapped in the same fuse spot, but then ran the wire around to the back, spliced into the previously dead circuit...no more issues since.

 

What year is the f250 Well Seasoned ?

 

That's what I would do in a pinch.

 

I think there should be a junction plug in the back on driver's side, check for corrosion, should also be a large gauge ground wire

 

I had issues with my LR turn signal being intermittent, but turned out it was just a bulb connection issue...looked perfectly fine, but a new bulb fixed it permanently then...

 

I can get you a wiring diagram tomorrow at work if you need, but my thinking is if you have no lights its probably a connection or a ground issue

 

Well Seasoned do you have a test light? If it was me I would got to one of the lights that are not working at test the socket. Plate lamp would probly be most convenient. Run a jumper to the battery to the test light and test it at the battery before checking the socket. It will help to know if it’s a ground or power issue. I suspect ground but it’s early to tell.

if the truck sat while you were running the subie it’s possible some critters chewed wires.

sorry I’m not the best at typing out what I’m thinking so if you need clarification just ask.

 

One thing may be obvious but I’ll say it when using the test light never poke the insulation, with all our road treatments you will just be opening a spot to rot later. Also be careful not to just jam the probe in the connector you can spread the terminal causing you to chase your tail later on. Learned that one the hard way.
