17 here. Boiler had 10" of coals this morning...topped it off with more soft maple. This weekend my soft maple will be gone and I get to burn some of the good stuff.
There are several on the market but all are not made equal. I've had several types but lately been sticking to one brand. Also where I buy they automatically give and extra year on the warranty. If you would like to borrow one, let me know.
Once again, thanks to Lake Michigan, we did not get so cold. 18 for the low and holding there. Not expected to rise much today. Very little snow on ground as most melted yesterday soon after it fell. Just a light covering now.
9 outside this morning and 60 inside. A bit chilly but it is slowly warming up. We are getting a few snow flurries, just enough to make the driveway white. Getting close to finishing my SS wood for the year.
24 now, got up to 26 with some sunshine, it was beautiful out! Really disappointed I had to work in the shop all day. Would've been a great log skidding day. Whatever I threw in at 6:30 this morning still heating the joint. 40's & rain when I get a chance to be out.
15*/77* inside. First week with new IS installed...still learning the tricks. Had the Dutchwest for over 28 years, and had some interior warping and finally damper wouldn't close...no airway path to catalytic (sp?), so almost no air control. Had purchased the IS in June of 2018, and it's been stored in the garage since then. Friday of last week had a crew take out the Dutchwest and bring in the IS...also removed an old Monarch furnace from basement utility room...Garage is full again! Will have to update the avatar pic.
When I woke up this am to go to work, it was still 74° in the stove room and the back hall was 71°. Quite a bit more coals in the stove vs the ash, silver maple, elm, and fir combo I've been burning until this cold snap. A balmy 20° out now. I need to reload the gorilla cart, and my inside bin. Probably ash and elm tonight in the stove.
I forgot to add in this mornings post that the lake is finally froze up....of course. It was a much quieter day with no wind and waves beating up the outside! 4 out 74 in.
22/68 right now waiting for this ash and black locust to take off. Friday through Sunday are suppposed to be kind of "warm" so the stove may get a break soon.
E Even more so now. +14°F and less than 5 mph breeze. Got about 4" of snow today. In the morning I will have to plow. Fkws in the stove closed down pretty snug. The Maremma's are panting it's so warm. My work for today. Assembling the stand and mounting the saw. Only took me 4 hours. But I didn't break anything and got it all on correctly. I had no idea it was such a complex machine when I bought it. It even has Blue tooth ! It communicates with a cordless vacuum cleaner for dust collection if desired. I guess it's a good thing . Good reason to buy a cordless Makita vacuum . I think I can wait on that. Hopefully will get to cutting boards with it tomorrow. After plowing.
28 headed to 59 today and then 70 tomorrow. 66 inside. No fire. Waiting in the sun to do its thing. Mike in Okla
They called for 9 last night, woke up to -10. Topped the OWB off with maple. On the radio they said next week we may be in the 40s, close to 50.
42 right now, but supposed to be back in the 70’s on Saturday. Might be a short sleeve Christmas this year.
