I want it on the FHC record that I’ve never talked smack about you beyond the normal banter which Nobel is considering offering me a prize in a new category for. But now that Eric has a Garage and I don’t,,,,,,,,seems like a good time to start. Hahahahahaha Nice score Brad and Eric. So much better than it going in a landfill somewhere. Brads the kind of guy that will give you the shirt off his back. Especially if he’s been working in it all day in August but nonetheless.
Loading up at the score yesterday and the homeowner was dismantling his old chicken pen. Scored these 8' PT 2x4's. Couldve had the old corrugated plastic from the roof but a bit too beat up for my liking.
Snagged this damaged wheelbarrow from a dumpster at a job i was working. Missing tire/axle, broken brace easy enough to fix.
I started to fill a bin full of chunks. As you can see I have another bladder there so have a pare cage to fill as well.
I was driving by an older industrial building and saw a sizable pile of lumber out to the road. Pulled over and started rummaging of course It was a haphazard mess of mostly untreated lumber, but what really caught my eye was a bunch of short 4x4s milled from fresh cut white pine, and some smaller 1x red oak strips. As I was loading up, the guy from the shipping department came out and we chatted for a bit. They sell refurbished machinery and are always throwing away shipping crates and random lumber. Lately they’ve been getting a lot of fresh cut lumber in from some guy that clears land and has a saw mill. So I got a few scraps today for future projects, along with one live edge white pine slab. The guy told me there’s more of that to come soon.
My friend was tossing this wheelbarrow as the the plastic was pretty beat. (be careful dropping logs into plastic in the cold weather, ive learned.) Rather than zip tie it together, i got four longer bolts and used some cull milled black locust and its works again for a wood hauler.
I thought for sure that you were going to make a proper firewood hauler, like campinspecter showed us here recently...
I am. I still have the all metal "chassis" with D handles. I got this one the other day and my two wheeler is in the shop! (actually broken in the woods full of splits) so this one to the rescue. I dont have triple A for my wheelbarrow!
Yeah, WTH is with those tires these days??? Constantly going flat. Those foam filled never flat ones are crap too. Replacement tires are pricey too. My two wheeler is 2.5 years old and bought used and those have held up. The axle mount bracket snapped why its stranded. I have another ill cannibilize for parts.
Look at OPE dealer or internet , solid tires are not that much more anymore. I am replacing with either solid tires or Tubes AAA Once towed Bota to shop. It clearly states my vehicle or vehicle I’m operating.. They balked because it wasn’t an Automobile but I was operating on Road when got a flat tire…. Not like I keep a spare on it. Trooper, who pulled over to assist, was like you got a flat bed it weighs same as SUV and your getting paid! Clear road or I will go through truck logs and chains for at least an hour and I will find violations
Scored this 16' long pallet today. 12" wide. Longest ive ever scored. The racks are not only for ladders. May use as is on cinder blocks with 2x4 ends. Scored these 4x8' ones on Monday. One for BL stacks, one will be the bottom for a one cord nugget/cookie bin. 44" square plastic one from same source. Have another the same size and may pair them somewhere.
Thanks for the heads up. Im thinking of running a couple 2x's through them to stiffen them up and to attach some type of end support.
