Heat rises when it uses air as a lift mechanism. People rise when they use an elevator or escalator. Sometimes even their own legs on stairs.
I disagree, in a friendly way, rest assured. To “Rise” denotes upward, vertical motion. Ascension, in a sense. Heat radiates omnidirectionally. There is no rise to it. Our sun is radiating-central in our little solar system. If one could look in from afar at our outer galactic little neighborhood and ask, “”where is the “up” or “rising”, as in “above?”” There isn’t. We are warmed by the sun throughout the path of our orbit. No more or less if our orbit were somehow rotated 90°. A bonfire burning on bare ground heats everything above the tops of the feet. A charcoal or gas grill (an elevated fire, so to speak) is felt from the height at which its radiated heat has an initial straight line path to a body, but even later it will radiate in all directions from the skin of its fire holding vessel. So if heat truly rises, and not merely heated air- then how do we accept that we get warm standing at a bonfire without standing above the bonfire? Some will say semantics… potato potahto… but we’re often reminded of other word/thought salad topics regarding firewood, so I thought I would give my 2¢ on putting this old wives tail in its place. Change my mind.
What I've noticed is in my shop with radiant floor the temp is virtually the same at floor level as 18' up Very tight built construction/air sealing Friends shop, same square footage, radiant floor, poorly air sealed, temperature at floor level is noticeably cooler than 18' up My thinking is that the drafts pull warmth from the concrete which decreases its density by heating up and therefore rises forcing cooler air downwards in a convective cycle Not exactly were I'm going with this but helps me to visualize what heat does

Leaving the solar system out of it.. for I am just an uneducated redneck; light a candle hold your hands 1 foot apart, flame between them, move around candle heat is same.. hold hand 6” below candle; not same as sides; hold hand 6” above candle now go get ice for burnt hand ask and ye shall receive I agree that heat likes to migrate too cold because opposites attract
Didnt get the timer for the freezer....makes sense to leave it on and consistently cold. Its 52 in the pantry...fridge only keeping food 10° colder than room temperature. kitchen temp 70 with wood stove going. Sca
For you hot water, have you thought about the Point of use units? Instant hot water. Install under the sink or the bigger units can install on the side of the house. Available in gas or electric.
Point of use units are a pain if you have a lot of desolved items in your water like calcium, lime and iron to name the 3 most notorious for plugging up the works. With the way appliances are made now days getting 8 years out anything new is a gamble. Not that they can't be repaired, if you don't mind sticker shock for parts, if still available.
