Good firewood trailer for ATV or UTV

I have a Honda Foreman 500 ATV and also a John Deere Gator UTV, side by side, whatever you call them. I would like to be able to haul more rounds out of the woods than the Gator bed (and the Honda has no bed!). Anything new out there in 2021, has anyone found a trailer that works well? My trails have humps and bumps, they're just leaf-covered dirt. I will need to widen them by harvesting more trees to accommodate a trailer. I have two small trailers, one 4x8 and one 5x8 but I consider both of those too large unless I *really* widen the trails. I just pull those behind the truck, they are street trailers. The 4x8 might possibly work but still, it's larger than what I figure is practical. I also like to go off-trail some to get close to a tree I am harvesting. I wish I would have looked into this prior to Black Friday! My luck somebody held a big sale!

 

I got this lil bugger at HarborFreight. It's only 40"x48". Not sure if that's too small for what you need...?

That's cool, Patrick, I didn't realize they have a trailer that size. I assume it is a kit. My brother got the bigger cousin from HF and it has held up just fine for several years. But he doesn't haul anything heavy. And I would! Your trailer could certainly work. Wider wheels would be better, though. Might could buy some. The good news about my trailer size needs are is that I don't need big, small is fine, because I poop out after I cut, load, unload and stack one about the size of yours!

 

Yes, Yawner, it's a kit. I added the plywood and the sides. I just looked at the HF website and didn't see this one there. I bought it about a year and a half ago. Good luck.

I use the 4x8 trailer when I can behind the ATV. If that's too wide for the trails, I use a 10 cubic foot agrifab dump trailer. If there's a good amount of snow, I'll use the jet sled behind the ATV.

I'll say this though, get as wide of tires as you can on any trailer for hauling wood. Many of the yard carts have narrow tires, and those sink in and cause ruts. Same applies to the 4x8 trailer. The trailer I used to use had skinny tires that would rut up yards badly. The older 4x8 I have now had much bigger and wider tires. It's a lot better for not rutting up the yard.

I have an ohio tool. Added sides. Back doesn't have place to put pickets. I didnt realize I would miss not having them.
Was pretty solid until this happened.
I like it, but don't know if I would buy it again or recommend it, with other options

Yea it's a kit. They have 2 sizes and one folds. It has like 975 pieces or something too!! Haha
They have those tandem axle ATV type tire off road trailers that can hold a good bit.
Those 4x8 tires will cut down pretty good in soft dirt. I wonder if those pontoon trailer type tires 8x20x10 or whatever they are would fit in the fenders there like 3x as wide.

 

I was gonna say the Yutrax trail trailer seems pretty popular, but Reloader beat me to it.

Can you get enough tongue weight on that to keep from spinning tires? It's tandem but due to the short length it's almost looks more like a wagon.

 

It's a single walking axle, so tongue weight shouldn't be an issue

 

+1 on the Polar HD 1500. I’ve been beating on mine for 10 years now, hauled somewhere around 90 cords with it, and it’s still as good as new.

The side rail kit lets me hold 150 splits. I put a wheeled jack stand on it, and it became a movable firewood pile in my garage. That saves restacking the wood, and the tub contains all the mess,and keeps my garage cleaner.

I got the 4 wheel kit, and the rocking axle makes it ride a lot smoother. The extra tires make it about the same width as a UTV.

If I wreck it, I’d be lining up to buy the exact same thing again.

Duelies eliminate any yard sales that single axle brings and tongue is long enough to eliminate short radius jack knives while backing up.
Lay a piece of plywood over the bottom and you’ll be happy with the Yutrax

Even if I didn't put any wood in the Gator bed and only used a trailer for that, I still have to carry quite a bit of stuff in the Gator bed. The way I am doing it now, I only have room for wood in about 2/3 of the bed. (Chainsaws, fuel, oil, gear, mauls, etc.)

 

I think that JRHAWK9 has the 4 wheel version of that one too...
