My wood fairu friend stopped by this morning with a PU load of red oak that he cut at his daughter's yesterday.

Pretty much the rounds to the right of the shade/shadow.

I've now got Pretty much enough inventory to CSS through the winter to reload stacks as I empty them.

Let it freeze and it should pop right apart with a maul. That has been my experience.

Is that the wood fairy hiding behind the pile? Are her wings outlined with steel?

Are you "on schedule" in terms of rounds on hand Mike? Would you take more if they come your way?

There's still more at my friend's daughter's place. Rounds would need to be split/noodles. What's left is the biggest.

The more oak, the better IMO.

I totally agree. 80% of my wood is oak. It works for me, where I have room for 12cord, onsite, which affords plenty of time to let it dry for 3 years.

The rounds of oak are no more.

My buddy was wanting to split wood. Who am I to deprive him of that?

In the process, I found a good use for fresh cut elm.

Yup - makes for a good splitting stump.

I have a number of elm rounds now. I'll stack them somewhere and forget about them for a few years before trying to split.

I see a good area to store them in this pic. Straight behind that big tree, across the street maybe 40-50 yards. :D

I'll probably stack them between a couple of trees at the back of the woodyard. I'll lay a couple of saplings or branches down first, to keep them up out of the wet.

Not me, but my friend did, with an x27. It just bounced off of the rounds.
