Excellent addition to the splitter, worth every cent of the $50 the wife paid for it. Birthday or Christmas gift, don't remember which.

Cords per hour is tough. I know processor companies all "brag" about how their machine can do x cords an hour, but that is ideal #s and there is almost always a bottleneck other than just the actual making firewood part...
Like loading the log deck, dealing with knarly logs that get hung up, splitter jams, stacking in the truck, etc.

IF I had 3-4 guys working, with no hickups it can do 1.5-2 cords an hour.
With just me, as I have been doing this year, it takes me about 2-2.5 hrs a cord. The biggest pain is having to stop to stack in the truck. I can usually fit about a cord of logs at a time on the log deck.

In any case it's much less work (and wear and tear on me) compared to using a saw and regular splitter. I did that the first year I was cutting. I was doing good to get 2 cords done in a 10-12hr day.

Found pics of the little splitter when I built a table for it. Swisher 27 ton, 11.5hp Briggs, belt drive 16gpm pump. Doesn't look as purdy now, been used by a few guys that didn't pay as much attention as I would and it's been sitting outside for 2 years.

Speaking of, any of you Swisher guys interested in a 4 way wedge? I don't use it and I'd sell it for a good price. http://www.woodsplitterdirect.com/swisher-4-way-wedge/ I can ship it parcel post. Just message me.

Thanks, I like it. The last 16 feet of roof is currently on the other wood shed, which is housing this years wood, and will be taken down when it is empty, so I just used a tarp for now.

I picked this splitter up in May. I really love it. It takes all the work out of splitting and makes it fun.

    Super Split Log Splitter.jpg

This is what I did the first morning. All told, I have split just about 6 cords with it so far. I havn't come across a piece of wood it would not split yet. Even have some elm mixed in there along with some notty and gnarly twisted birch and oak.
