red oak

    This tree fell a few years ago and I bucked it last year and stacked the rounds. I'm surprised it's as dry as it is and if I had to I could burn it later this winter. This is the driest number I saw, some of it is almost 20%.

    Is that a fresh split face you are testing there? If not, it will test much higher internally.
    Every once in a while you do run across an oak that doesn't take half a century to dry...usually stuff that was dead standing and fairly dry to begin with...
