26° this morning when I left for work. This was a couple days ago. Drolet Blackcomb doing a good job... 1 long split in the back and some 2 yr old oak chunks in the front
Too bad u hadn't duct taped your face that would be exposed to the wind. That stops wind driven frost bite. But 45 below is seriously cold to be out on a snogo
I had on a full face as well as a balaclava and a sled suit but the snow dust got inside the helmet and froze my face. You don't 'feel' it until it starts to defrost. Same with the fingers. No liquid courage either, which was unusual for me back then. I've had enough of that stuff and it's snowing here (looking out the window).. Back then I ran an AC Thundercat 1000 triple. Had a 150 mph clock on it and it would do 150 with enough liquid courage. Dang lucky I'm still here. Just fond memories now.
This morning at 9:30 I refilled the stove at 5 this morning with an 8" white spruce and a 4" black spruce rounds and went back to bed. Wife got up at 6 this morning and didn't add any. Had Huge coals when I added at 9:30.
37f and gusty here. Woke up to find the roof of one of the log stores blown off; thankfully it’s not going to be too wet over the next few days. Big chunks of pine in the stove.
I know right they are predicting 1/2 inch of snow and there's a winter advisory , come on it's Michigan Got about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch of snow here 30 degrees out 76 degrees in the stove room
It's warmed up to 21 below. Feels quite warm in comparison. ! Been burning black spruce all day. Save what Aspen I have left for overnight.
Currentlyb-22°F ambient. Winds calm Just loaded the stove with a 7" and a 5" round of Aspen. Having to run a bit more draft to keep the house livable so I drink a big glass of water just before bed. An almost guaranteed 4 hour silent , mandatory get up, alarm clock.
Chunks and shorties, Oak and a little elm thrown in. I kind of like them; easy loading the stove and leave some really nice coals. Getting near the end of them then on to the normal splits. Makes no sense to take them to the Stump Dump, so they get burned. No waste.
