I had to blow leaves today and drop off and pick up my daughter from a 4H event, so I didn’t get much time for cutting today. I got home grabbed the 272 and 261 and headed to the wood pile.
    Posed the 272

it was extra hard to start. That was odd and frustrating. Got it to fire, warmed it up and tried cutting the big round in half. The saw kept bogging under load. Had idle and throttle response, but bogged every time I sunk it in the round? Any ideas what that’s about? I’ll pull the muffler and see what piston looks like. Worked fine the last time I used it. Didn’t have a 70cc stihl backup with me, so I went to work on the hickory with the 261.

I will start splitting this tomorrow and grab the 044 to finish cutting the big round and bigger hickory logs.

Collapsing fuel line? Clogged screen in the carb? Bad fuel, fouled plug?

New fuel filter, new plug, hasn’t sat long enough for fuel to be an issue.
Fuel line could be original. Carb history unknown too.

All kidding aside its more than frustrating when the saw worked fine on the prior outing and fizzles on the next even though its been gone through. Been there done that. Im not one for fixing them either.

Reason i sent my 036 packing. It was gone though a couple times and when it failed to hot start after 8 pulls on a sticky day i said sayonara. When i want to cut wood i want to cut wood, not curse at a problematic saw.

Hope you figure it out and get back to :saw: soon

Here’s my firewood time tracking. 1hr of cutting yesterday made about 2 hrs of splitting.
1 hr of splitting made this pile of Hickory splits

Bogging down is often an air filter. Not always, but often.
Usually talks to ya before it gets bad though.
