I did a google search looking for some information on chainsaws, and came across a couple other forums which shall remain nameless. I think our site really does stand out in terms of variety...especially if you have saw or stove questions and some other interests. I think the moderators did a good job setting up this site to be different and offer more options. I went back to an old site yesterday afternoon, but found it to be pretty boring quickly as all it has are questions and answers about stoves and fuel. We have that along with the saw area, woodcutting tools area, etc.
I went back....exactly 1 time then quickly deleted from my favorites. I feel sooooo much more at home here.
I couldn't agree more. Thank goodness we all work hard. With wood, hauling pellet bags etc, because that smoke house area is some tasty stuff!
Agree with Bocefus, I went back one time since being here and got the same results. It's sad, and I hope this place does not turn into what happened over there.
Life is Good over here good folks sharing ideas ,having fun , not a pizzing contest, something for everyone
I got an email this weekend from a friend who is still on the other site. Said it isn't the same any more for sure. He would like me to go back there but I highly doubt I could even if I wanted. lol Still, I can only imagine what some think as I was the second highest poster there with just shy of 28,000 posts. But it didn't bother them to boot me nor does it bother me. Shoot, after Scotty and the gang started this forum, that other place went steadily downhill. Nuff said about that junk.
Dennis Sooo.. Happy that you are here you have a ton of wisdom to offer , I know that you helped me get it right
Thanks Will. I love to help others and that is why I'm on the forum. Besides, I have some fun too and sort of meet lots of nice folks. Shoot, I've personally met several members and have yet to meet a bad one!
Real folks. No one with "all powerful insight to inside the beltway" No my way or the high way. No one who think they are obligated to be grammar teachers. Just people who get up and put their pants on like you do and are willing to share the shirt off their backs. (AKA big family neighborhood)
We all know that Scotty is a great guy. He started this site because of his love of all things wood. When you do something for the love of it you tend to do a great job. In his wisdom Scotty asked humble, intelligent guys to be moderators. Let's admit that lessons were learned in previous experiences that there are certain subjects that cause problems sooooo we don't discuss them. There is also a lot of respect from Scotty and the mods to the members and in return we have respect for them. We all want to keep this place nice.
Ill be honest, i dont really get why some of you guys hate that site so much. All the anger pushed me to lay low from both sites for months, I was tired of it. Ive been back on both sites fora while now since I thought it had finally blown over and we could all let bygones be bygones. I guess it has not Personally I think each site is good and has its place. Sure the other side tends to be more focused and on speciifc topics... and over here is more open to general conversation. I think there are pluses to both approaches and still like both places.
This is a great site for sure and it's where I hang out, but, I surely do not hate the other site and I go there from time to time
I'm not a mod, just a member that knows this thread is leaning in the wrong direction. RESPECT is what makes it great here and it runs deep here, that goes also for being respectful of the "other site" GOOD,BAD OR UGLY !!!
Thx LP......... as stated when we started, its best to not to discuss "over there" "the other place or site" etc. I think we will all agree that we share similarities and differences, and wherever we visit is a matter of personal choice. So lets stay focused on this forum w/o out comparing. Thx!
This site, with its great folks and wealth of info on MANY topics is just like good ole' comfort food. I look forward to a heapin helpin' every day.
