That colour really stands out. After seeing some of the colours of the houses along the water front, I am surprised that there aren't more brightly painted houses where you live.
I was basically going to say the same thing. I like the color, but I was shocked at how there are no other brightly colored houses in the vicinity.
I guess most people, for financial reasons or otherwise, just go with the cheapest, lowest maintenance option (vinyl siding). And I'm one of them, on the house. at least in my opinion, "bright" colors in vinyl don't look good, it looks plasticy. Which of course it is plastic, but I think more earthy colors suit vinyl a lot better. Unless you do it with pallet planks like my garage, real wood isn't cheap these days, if it ever was. It looks really nice, but that comes at a cost of both more money and time consuming maintenance that a lot of people either can't afford or don't want to bother with. That fiber cement stuff is interesting and looks to be a good compromise, but it hasn't seemed to catch on here yet the way it has in some areas, although I have seen a couple places recently. I know in much of downtown St.John's, you don't have a choice. It's a heritage area, and you have to conform to the historical "Jellybean Row" look. Part of living there, and I understand why, but I couldn't buy one because I just plain don't like anyone being able to tell me what to do with my own property. Nor do I like having to park on the street and high population density, but it works for some people.
You are right about the colour in vinyl. Fading is a problem for bright colours in vinyl. For a lot of people as well, they don't want the bother of keeping up with the maintenance of painting every couple of years as well. Our house needs painting so maybe next year.
She already has an offer this morning, $5K above asking price, pre-approved, not contingent on them selling their current house- They'll go up $15K more if she gets another offer by 6 pm tonight when it expires. I think she's going to accept either way, but I have my fingers crossed she gets another offer by tonight so she gets the extra $15K. Exciting!!!!
Well make her an offer. She will get more money and no harm done. They are willing to pay it go get it.
I just texted her, guess we need pre approved financing up front, which don't have nor could get. Good idea though!
Know any real estate brokers? If they are willing to go 15k above list I’m sure she could hold out for more.
I don't, I know one but she screwed us pretty bad when we sold our home of 21 years in 2014, then did the same to Dad's wife but with bonus bogus home inspection (her buddy of course) and 10's of thousands in expensive repairs.
what color is your house? Yes, it's time consuming if you do it yourself and expensive if you hire someone. My garage is going to need a coat again in the spring, unless I get a chance yet this year. Welp, soffit done all the way around and the back of the skirt done. Just the side towards the house needs the skirt finished now, some window trim and stuff and maybe I can call it done outside except for maintenance. The gaps by the top corners in the front window, I plan to make lantern type things to hang. Might add a vent above the window, for looks if nothing else. Yeah, I've got a little work left yet. Soon on the list, I need to make some thingamajigs to hold the doors open so they can't blow shut.
Help. Don't knowe how, but when I select the favorites drop down menu on the laptop, it is all dark and hard to read. Must've het a button or sumpin. Suggestions?
Getting back to almost three rolls of 3 cords of wood… Got just a bit more to stack from what is already split…
Hover on your screen name at top right, in the drop down box click "preferences", I use "Classic", it's white background.
I put those style windows (from Lowes) 6 years ago when I did the big do over to this downstairs. Very glad I did. The work great and had a reasonable cost.
