Currently. Aspen in the stove. Will probably stoke it with Aspen for the overnight after I get in from walking the dogs.

30 headed to 55 today. Had a small fire last night to take the chill off. 68 inside so probably won’t be another fire until tonight Mike in Okla
Didn't get as cold as they called for, was 20 when I got up, had a foot of maple coals I'm the OWB I topped off with a maple stump cut off and some knotted oak chunks
It's A LOT easier when a home is Fully set up and finished. It's a lot of work now with only heating with wood , not having the entry way built yet, being off grid , But , the hardest part is leaving every day to go to work. Yesterday was 10 1/2 hours at work. If I was 40 it would be no biggy. As is I'm wearing down. We r short handed at work or I would tramp. Or they might fire me because I'm late most days. However, being a driver. I pretty much do what I do and it takes as long as it takes. The company I work for has grown so much and so fast. But we still are a 3 man show. Works all of us ragged. -23° F. Ambient . Aspen in the stove.
Dropping to 27 tonight, so I’ll be feeding 2 stoves this evening. Had a cold wind most of the day. It’s been a windy week which has buried my yard in a foot of oak leaves. The dog seemed to enjoy running around belly deep in leaves. TGIF
That’s definitely a grind, man. But it will be totally worth it, once your project is complete. Most people would never have any concept of the lifestyle you’ve created. I would argue that, while your journey is tough - especially at the moment, you are doing more living than someone who sits in a cubicle all day. Or lives in a tiny studio apartment in a big city.
Well . I made a change when I got home from work. I texted the boss and told him I would be in on Monday to sign over my work keys. This was the temp when I got home from work. For some reason the propane quit working . My wife was just getting the frying pan heating up on the woodstove. Burrito night tonight ! I maybe would have stuck it out if the boss hadn't been a condecending azz today. I can truly say I've made that outfit a lot of money. Now they can find someone else to do that. I guess once a tramp logger , always a tramp logger. Now I will have time for the thousand other things I Have to do !! Nice thing about having very little debt. And a retirement already coming in. If I sell a cord of firewood a week. I will more than pay any other bills and have some mad money And the Eskimo P. Logger is just dying to get put to work A 3/4 round of Aspen and a round of white spruce in the stove.
Hey, I do HVAC for a living, if you haven't figured out the problem with your propane furnace, tell me the symptoms or look at the fault code it's giving you. I will try to lend a hand from afar.
Not too bad tonight, only getting down to 27F tonight. But opening day for Rifle Deer season is first thing in the morning. I have permission from a farmer friend of mine to go sit by his feed lot. He said they're going to surround you...... I just have antlerless tags so looking for "doe, a deer, a female deer"!!
