Crap weather here today. We have a real cold rain on top of our snow. Im pretty sure our white stuff will disappear before coming back next week. 2.5 inches of rain is expected. Theyre calling it an atmospheric river that has hit the west coast and spreading inland to us. Its still not preventing me from smoking a pork butt although Id rather smoke in -20 than this rain. Just relit the stove.
Colebrook apparently got some (pic below). We still haven't seen any yet but now they're calling for up to 2" tonight. Just enough to make a mess out of everything.
There was snow on the ground within 20 miles of me but oh well. It’s been crazy warm. I really don’t have high hopes for the type of winter I enjoy.
Got a couple of inches of snow last night, still a muddy mess under it so its thankfully not going to stay yet. Tried cleaning up our path through the swamp to get to the other side of my parents property to put up a new deer stand, took the husky 55 and started wacking away throwing all the brush I cut into the path so you don't sink in but was not able to get all the way back, hit a area that was just to water logged and there is no bottom so going to have to wait for it to freeze so I can keep cutting and filling in the path with brush for something to walk on.
Ours is on Saturday, hoping for a short day at work tomorrow as my dad has some buckthorn that has grown up and needs to be cleared away from his stand yet.
Some nice big flakes this morning, but nothing accumulated. Windy, and cold. Nice to have the house toasty on these days
35F damp & windy here. Rain quit at least. Ash & Elm in the boiler. Hoping for dryer weather tomorrow.
My buddy that hunts deer up in Stevenson, is actually in Los Angeles dealing with his sick uncle that probably won't be around very much longer. He's always up for opening in the UP. He's hoping to be back for the weekend of deer season. He's got a little different weather in LA than anywhere in the great lakes states. 30° out, flurries most of the day but they didn't stick anywhere. Last night and this am the roof was white with snow. Burning ash uglies right now.
34 at the moment with a mix of red maple, black birch and aspen in the stove. With a high of 45 projected, I think I’ll take the day off to work on a reclaimed brick walkway extension project I’ve been putting off. Happy Monday FHC
35* blustery and overcast when I headed out to stand this morning. Last week of PA archery. Loaded Cherry and ash are before I left house. Looking forward to the warmth when I head in.
Had a pretty nice weekend here. Did running around and lazy on Saturday. Leaving the house I see a tree company taking down a nice ash a block away, but didn't have time to check on the wood. I guess the neighbor never thought of checking with me. Yesterday split a couple of totes worth of mulberry and ash that's been sitting around a couple of years. After that, worked on front yard leaves and mow, so now the truck is loaded with those. 39f now with a couple of nice days ahead so stove is cold. Maybe take the cat out tonight and blow it out.
