Seems like every publication has their own winter prediction when they stare into their crystal ball. Dire consequences imminent! We’ll all be buried under 40 feet of snow by Christmas and those who survive that ordeal shall be burned alive under the blazing January sun! One thing anyone with a shred of common sense can see though is that energy prices across the board will continue to rise for the foreseeable future.
Yup I’m glad I have a large enough fuel tank to get me to my place and back without having to buy in Maine. I generally try my best not to buy anything there for that matter.
Healing for your soul friend, healing for your soul. And a dose of His love that casts out all fear. Sca
I have a small propane tank, around 100 gallons. I use it primarily for cooking. I get gouged every time I get a fill. For some reason I pay more per gallons just because I have a smaller tank, up to double what others pay with larger tanks.
Yup. Same here. Propane for hot water and cooktop. Low usage, higher per gallon. At least our fuel oil tank gets filled once in 4 years. Thank you wood stove.
You guys with the smaller LP tanks that can handle them...if you have a welding supply place nearby that fills gas bottles, like oxygen, acetylene, and the like, they can often fill LP bottles too...and for a much better price than having the truck come out to do it...just FYI. Like our local place fills the 20 lb. "BBQ" tanks for about the same price as the "exchange" tanks that are outside the hardware and places like that, but they actually FILL them, unlike what you get with the exchange tanks.
Be ware the place that I use will not fill the tanks if you are transporting in a car. Silly safety rules…
That is a federal safety rule that we are required to follow… don’t shoot the messenger or the hoarse. Edit… I was thinking 100 # tanks.. not the little guys. There is a limit on how many 20# tanks you can have in a vehicle at 1 time… All cylinders must be transported standing uprooting keep the relief valve in the vapor space.
Yep, same here. When I moved in, there was a 500 gallon tank. They were putting 250-300 gallons in it every month, and I was paying way over what the "average" price was for NH (according to the NH heating fuel page). That was $1,000 minimum I was paying monthly. That is why I put in the pellet stoves and only use propane for the cook stove and DHW. Propane boiler is strictly back up. I was able to get the behemouth of a tank out of the middle of my yard, and put in two 100 gal tanks next to the house. Oh, and I changed providers at the same time as I had the worst provider in the state.
We only use propane for hot water and cooking. When I moved here in 1992 I was using one 100# cylinder a month for about $30. Several years later they switched me to a small tank and it costs roughly $35 a month now. I'm sure I am paying a premium for using a small amount but I don't think I could do much better and don't spend a lot of time thinking about it, but that doesn't let Brandon off the hook with me for the nonsense he has done.
We have 100 pound tanks for the cook stove. Swap out every 10 months roughly. Tractor supply is the cheapest around here. Airgas and Maine oxy are both higher.
I have a 500 gallon tank buried in the back yard. It is way overkill for what we need now, but back when the original owners lived here they were filling it monthly (or sooner) during the winter. But 3000 gallons a year at $.79/gallon wasn't a killer....but now it is $2.79. I called the propane company and asked if it would make sense for us to go to a smaller tank....would end up costing me $150/year more.
On the other hand, if its full, and you keep it full, then its there when you need it. Propane doesnt go bad like gasoline/hho.... Sca
