Thanks I'll be overweight with each load of the Red Oak, not lookin to top off. Gotta get past the trolls on the South Bridge. But If it's still there I can make another run.
Third load of the Red "Black Oak" from CL. Sun goin down, so only split em down so I could load. First 2 loads were split to stove size. The 4500 Chevy is rated to haul 5500 lbs. I was a bit over that. Ten 30" rounds left for tomorrow. I would like to get the last 10' of the log at the stump. It's buried in the ground.
WOW!! That, is awesome. Just the way I like em! I’ve used a Hi-Lift jack in a similar situation, to get a little something under it.
I see its down to $3500 now...better go get it...that's half price, especially if there is pipe/ducts with it! Don't make me drive over there and snatch that up!
I was able to lift it enough with a heavy ratchet strap attached to the truck bed to get one more 16" round off the stump. Didn't have the tools or time to dig it out. I might get back there next week if it stays dry. Should be about 5 cord. Thanks again The Wood Wolverine
Glad it worked out for you PA Mountain Man . That's quite the score. I'm green w/ envy. Looks like that last bit would be best stood back up and stump cut. I see a lotta rocks and that would shy me away from creeping up on a full buck cut as it lays. I'm sure the landowners are glad to have it at least where it is now vs the full tree laying.
Reverse score today and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I was left with a couple wheel barrels of pine shorties Put’m on Craigslist for free. Young guy showed up a couple hours after, took the shorties and helped clean the saw yard of cookies. If nothing else, this kid was a good hoarder roll model.
i did feel pretty good when he pulled out of the driveway and the bed of his ranger was nearly full, knowing that he was pretty jazzed about his score and knowing I was helping a fellow hoarder, even if he didn’t show me the secret handshake.
