I knew that would get your attention Brad. Cruising CL and FB MP, I inquire about and add for free Locust, you cut/haul. Home owner says someone is coming Monday so I politely thank her for her time and state that I’m interested if they don’t show. Well, she responded and said there’s still some left, the people that came are done. And sent me this: Ok, I can be there today. Very deceiving pic IMO. Didn’t take the trailer to work, but loaded the XS365sp w/ a 24”. Pulled around behind the house and my jaw dropped.
I knew right away I didn’t have the right saw, so I started on the small end and got a load. “Small” end. I’ll return w/ the SCarr394 and a 28”. Lots left! This is a thing of beauty! Needed some air in the bags! She was saggin’!! Yep, you guessed it.
Pics from load 2. Total noodle-rama. I was able to get a wedge under the base piece (that the tree guy left standing), and push it over, luckily. This is mid noodle: Load 2! The very back of the trailer was crap wood. I took it to help homeowner. Was the least I could do, right! It’s on my burn pile now. Not bothering w it. Loaded truck pic: This is with about 70 pounds in the bags. Another beautiful sight. Sun’s out, gun’s out!! Can’t believe the temps today!! I only had one calibration apt today at 8:00, so I cut out and got paid to hoard. Chit is heavy!! I was completely bushed at this point. Nice little wood get I must say.
Sweet! Have you burned much of it The Wood Wolverine ? I know you’re partial to red oak and all but THAT is one heck of a locust score
I neglected to get a pic when the base was on its side. My 28” didn’t touch it, had to saw from both sides.
That is a beautiful sight for sure. I know its not your favorite but im pumped for you! I can feel my mania flaring up! Now wanting to go cut a load of it soon. Couple questions for you Jason. When you got the score were you thinking "buZZsaw's gonna love this one"? Does this now mean i hafta go cut a load of oak?
Haha! I did. I was wanting to hear feedback if you've ever had any that large. I always go for the biggin's.
From a January score. Ive never straight noodled it before only the gnarly chunks. Usually sections rather easily with the Isocore. Did you save any noodles?
I didn't. If I had room, I would have. I was packed to the gills. This score was about 20 minutes from where I work but it was a 40 minute ride home. All the stars aligned and I scored some black locust, woohoo (can you tell I'm excited)! Yes I do love red oak. One of the reasons is, it's so plentiful. If I had locust like this regularly, I'd definitely take it.
Ok Jason, ya got me on this one, even I would've hauled that one off at no charge. That's a great score! Never believe the pics if there's nothing around the stem for scale. I never leave home without one 36" bar on a saw. You just never know.
