Wow. Gone for the day to visit some relatives and pick up 2 of our granddaughters for a weeks visit, and what do I find when I open up FHC? 46 alerts. Most I usually get is about 20-25. Ok, just jumped up to 48. Good sign, I suppose, but wow.
WS's post made me think, the wife and I had a meeting at church this afternoon and she said afterwards "lets go for a Sunday drive". I wound around a lot of backroads that I hadn't been on for quite a few years, went past a house that had a pretty darn sizeable wood pile. I said look at that honey, she says better invite him to the wood hoarders club.
When my wife and I are on the road and she sees a woodpile, she looks right at me to see if I see it. Problem is, I saw it two blocks away I can sniff out splits at 40 mph....
I think it's just all this talk about polar vortex's again this year- has people thinking about wood, so they come here to calm themselves.
I remember before I had an insert, just a fireplace. Took a walk down the lane, saw a wall of wood stacked inside a neighbor's garage about 4 x 8 and thought, "Gosh, that is a LOT of wood!"
Full time burners are a vast minority. Which means the majority of folks have no real idea how much wood it takes to burn 24/7 for 6-8 months. I used to be one of those.
