Moving wood to the house and basement and came across this the stack is a mix of cedar (juniper), elm, hackberry, and one other mystery wood. But what ever is doing/did this only attacked the cedar. Not termites is it? Never here much about them around here. I didn’t think any bugs liked it, ( cedar chests, closets etc.)! Would you worry about taking it in the house, or best left for outside firewood. Not sure if the culprits are still in the wood or not. Not seeing any bugs except occasional Spider and it’s getting a brushing as I load it because the whole stack has blown full of sand over the last 2 winters
Sawyer Beetles - Home and Garden IPM from Cooperative Extension - University of Maine Cooperative Extension I got a couple cord of white pine in log length from an arborist ive done some saw work for, last winter. Over the summer I would walk by the stacks of rounds and it sounded like there was a small beaver in there somewhere. I think this is what I found when I split it, this Sawyer Beatle larvae. An inch plus. Maybe this or something like it.
