Its that time of the year again.... On the anniversary of the infamous wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, notorious November gales may howl once again across portions of the nation's midsection. A powerful storm will wallop portions of the Plains, Midwest and western Great Lakes with strong winds, heavy snow and severe thunderstorms next week. "In an eerily similar fashion to that famous storm in 1975, low pressure is expected to develop over the central Plains during the middle of next week, before quickly strengthening and cutting northeastward toward the northern Great Lakes and Upper Midwest," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Alyson Hoegg. 1st major winter storm to eye central US next week | AccuWeather
Get your milk, bread, eggs, and TP now! And turkey, cranberry sauce, potatoes for Thanksgiving day since we'll be stuck inside for weeks.
I'll not forget that day when the ship sank. It was not fun. But those dumb weather forecasters will try to make mountains out of mole hills all the time and make themselves look like idiots. Forecast the worst then try to make it sound as if nobody has ever seen so bad...
Our forecast for that period is not showing anything bad at all. Won't be having temps in the 30's (for highs) until a week from now. .......but that can sure change in a hurry!
I checked the La Crosse weather office forecast and they had nothing but some rain for us later next week. No mention of a snow storm.
Well, we will be driving up that a way on Friday morning. My 15 year old might be driving with a dually truck and an enclosed trailer. But not if the weather is that bad...
UPDATE 11/9/21 A cold rain will spread across the Midwest, northern Plains and southern Canadian Prairies Wednesday, with widespread temperatures ranging from the mid-30s F to the upper 40s (single digits above zero Celsius). However, as the storm gains strength later Wednesday, it will tap into colder air and drag it southward, causing rain to change to snow. The change will first occur across southern portions of Saskatchewan, Manitoba and southwestern Ontario Wednesday night. Snow will then expand into portions of the Dakotas and Minnesota by Thursday. I took the day off from work today to get my outside stuff covered, tied down Started filling up the woodshed So far it's looking like crazy wind and some or alot of snow
Maybe we'll get summa that..... Haven't had snow here in a long time. Getting kinda itchy for some. Sca
Most of that storm petered out. Oh, there is some snow and we has a little wind. It is snowing now but it's really nothing to write about. I get a bit fed up with today's forecasting. Always trying to make a story rather than talking about reality.
Yup. X2. Worse....those reporters out in the worst of the storm, wind, snow whatever, driving around showing how bad it really is (and how foolish they are), becoming a risk or hazard......bring coffee and snax and ride with the plow operator for a shift.....otherwise stay the heck off the roads. All for entertainment. Then there's the goofy anchor types treat these reporters like they're heros or doing some legit work for the world. *hops off soapbox, yields the floor to others* Sca
