Yeah, 243 is extremely difficult to find this year.

I called on a friend, and they called on their friend, to get 2 boxes of 100 gr hunting ammo for my different friend's two sons that shoot 243 and only had 8 bullets left from last year. $30 a box apparently was as good off a frame as there was. Plus no shipping, just a bit of coordinating to do.

Horkn , sounds like quite a chain. Yeah it's good to know people.

Yeah we didn't really need FIVE boxes, but the guy wouldn't break it up. He originally wanted $200 for the lot but he ended up taking $160 for them. Not that having extra ammo is a bad thing nowadays.. I had about an hour round trip into them. I talked/texted the guy back and forth for about a week and a half, couldn't believe they stayed available that long..

It helps to know people, that's for sure. I brought over two old boxes of western super x silver tip 30-06 fur him and gave the guy needing 243's a deal on these as well. More ammo for him, and it got rid of stuff I don't even have a gun for.

I've got enough old military 30-06 and .303 hunting and some fmj military 303 that I should buy a bolt action 06 and or 303, probably an Enfield because that's about the only 303 Brit gun there is, just to shoot up these rds I have.

Nice score, I was looking for 117gr 25-06 for my dad the other day. Only thing I was finding was $60 a box o_O.

My .450 bushmaster ammo I bought was only $1.80 a round, they wanted $3.00 a round for 25-06!

My buddy went to a garage sale a couple months ago. The guy was ex special forces and ran a tacticool school for a while. He was selling off his extra ammo. I will not remember the exact numbers but he bought somewhere in the range of 1500 .45 mix of hollow point and FMJ for $150 and 1000 .38 special for $100. I am still trying to get him to sell me some. We haven't shot any yet but I see no reason it wouldn't shoot well. He also sold a guy 2000 30.06 for $200. HECK OF A DEAL in this market.

You were in the right place right time, I'm not super aware of how sought out some calibers are but 243 is a big one. I saw a lone box of the stuff at a local bass pro shelves away from where they usually end up. Either the person who grabbed them didn't want a box of Remington or something. I was also looking out for a guy who was trying to get ammo for his son for his first hunt. Couldn't be happier to keep my eyes out for it and the deal worked out. One caliber that seems to not get a lot of popularity here yet is the 350 legend. That ammo is all over. 30-30? Non-existent. I've got some old Kleenbore from a buy all deal, now I'm eyeballing a lever action but I think the box of that stuff is gonna be worth more than the 10-15 bucks I paid for it.

He had a wall in his garage that was stacked about 4 foot tall and 10 feet wide full of ammo cans of all sizes filled with ammo. It was impressive.

22LR is $42.73 per box out the door at the local Wally World
This is the first time I’ve seen it here in well over a year.

Yuck on the 22 lr prices. I bought a couple hundred CCI mini mags for $8 /100 a few months ago.

I was thinking $42.73 wasn't horrible (considering), but then I saw it was only 300 rounds..:faint:

But still better than not having any!

I wasn't aware it was still so scarce and pricey.
Good job on getting it while you can.

Yeah really. This is the first 22LR ammo I’ve bought since December of last year. I still had about 400 rounds at home but I figured since it was available, I might as well buy one box anyway. The limit is 3 boxes per day per customer but I couldn’t really justify dropping $130 on 900 rounds of 22 :headbang:

I leave those alone. It's asinine on their part raising up a cost of something that would have been better in a tin or substantial box like wood or something. Something that would come across as value. This is an anniversary edition...

I just bought a used .22 but am super low on .22 ammo. Might need to go run over to Walmart and bite the bullet!
