I can't get the 55 to run right

In your second picture, the one of the cylinder side of the partition, take a close look at the end of the impulse tube, see where it is brown on the end? Plastic shrinks when cooked like that, replace the partition!

well I probably just got lucky and it may act up again so I might as well put new parts on it cuz I plan on keeping it a long long time.

Jon1270 offered to fix it for me free or pay for parts but I figured I could fix it with everyone's help.
It ran fine when I got it, I got a good price on it, things get old, things go wrong and need repair that's just the way it is.
It's a good saw with 170psi and I have no problem putting some money into it to keep it that way

 

I'm still willing to help however I can; I want you to remain happy with it. That said, I find it enormously liberating to do such repairs myself. Having taken something apart and put it back together again, it's no longer a black box with mysterious contents that I have to wonder about.

I posted something somewhere (I'll find it and post here) about how to repair the partition if the threads get pulled out because of over tightening the carb screws or vibration. About $3 in parts from MickeyMaster.

 

Got the new parts today, impulse grommet, OEM partition and a brandy new ZAMA C1QEL7 for $34

 

New parts are installed saw is running better but, I can't seem to hear a distinctive 4 cycling going on ,
and now while adjusting it the max rpm I can get is 9500.
It has a brand new carburetor now, do you think I should cut the wings off ?
I didn't think I needed to with a new carb.
Do some older saws need to be adjusted past those stops to run right?

 

ÍYou need full adjustment on a carb so o would defeat the limiters. Small saws with factory mufflers unmodded are hard for me to hear and are hard to tell. The more I mess with them I can hear it but on my small saws its nothing g like the gutted can with a dual port of my MS650.

 

I don't have a problem hearing a distinct 4 cycle on my 445

 

utility knife or flat screwgee heated with a torch to melt them works good for me

 

I think I have a set of screwgees around somewhere

My 55 does not have limiters so I can fully adjust it.If it was mine I would cut those wings off

 

I m thinking like you Dex if lots still all over and the fuel delivery is ok...are we sure there is no air leak?
