we bought our DHT in August 2016, it has been as reliable as our Champion Generator, almost always starts first pull.

Overall, I have been Very Happy with the DHT, and would buy another, if they were still in business

I stopped at my local big box this morning and they had only one Champion 34 ton splitter out front , there were 3 or 4 there at the end of last week.
Just out of curiosity I looked at the price tag on it $ 1829 was the winning number.

Prices on splitters shot up around April of last year. I was very grateful that I had just upgraded mine the Jan prior. I think mine is about 1k more than when I bought it. The CountyLine 40 ton I was also looking at has gone up $700 as well...

I was in TSC yesterday, you got on HELL of a deal on that splitter Kimberly. The cheapest one here was the 25 ton and that was $1499.00. They had a 30 ton which was $2099.00 also. Come to think on it, ANY new splitter for $600.00 is a steal!

Yes that's a great deal. I bought the exact same splitter in mid August of 2020 and it came to around $1150 IIRC (that's including the delivery charge, as I had no desire to assemble it in the parking lot and tow it home)
When did you buy yours? Judging by the completely bare trees in the picture it must've been at least this past winter...

Just looked at the one I bought from Rugged Split a couple years back , it is $ 1200 + higher in price than when I bought mine , not to mention it is not in stock.
I know when I bought mine there was a few months before I saw mine , would be willing to bet that that wait is longer now than it was then.

at the price point now for a new splitters I can build my own cheaper. If I dig real hard I can use all new components as well. Over the last couple years steel has risen 249%. Freight from over seas has tripled. Of course just about everything has had prices increases. Just got a statement for various practioners of the black arts visits ( doctors), $14xx.00 for a simple office visit, and another grand for an electrocardiogram:hair:. Quote " you haven't seen us for awhile" ya 5 years - Likely in a pine box the by nextime ( if I can afford it other wise cardboard, might not be able to swing that either  )

I love that store. Problem is that the closest one to me is 100 miles away.

Me Too!!! My wife is from Wisconsin and theres 2 within 10 miles of each other., I'm so sad we don't live closer to a store. If I were you and had a list of goodies, I'd drive the 100 miles! :D Especially for a big purchase like a splitter. It'd be worth it.

I love Menards...they totally ruined me for HD, and especially bLowes...we have a Menards that is about 15 miles in a direction I rarely go, and a new one coming about 10 miles away, but in a direction that we go at least every week or two...this might get 'spensive... :makeitrain"

I live within 10 miles of one. They don't have lots of sales these days but the 11% rebate us pretty sweet. I pick up my bar oil there and plenty of other stuff.

There's a company called "Runnings" and they are similar to Menards up in New Hampshire. My land is about 10 miles away and they are the closest thing to a Menards. There is a TSC there also. We just got a TSC close to us about 6 miles. Before I used to have to drive 35 miles to TSC. We have a Lowes and a HD within 7 miles. The only thing about TSC that pi$$es me off is, the other stores give a 10% military discount, TSC don't except only on Veterans day.

I work at Menards. If you look online at the store you go to, scroll down to "Ray's List" I picked up 100 sheets of 1/4" hard board for $50 this summer. If I ever get the garage cleaned out that is going to be my drywall.

I'm not a big tsc fan. I'll go there a few times per year...
But...Rural King just bought the old (closed) Kmart, and i like them.
I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to get it opened for Christmas.

I have looked at that a few times...never seen anything that was 1. of interest to me, 2. all that great of a deal...but apparently YMMV!
How do you like working there? I figure it must be a decent place to work, I've seen some of the same workers at the store we go to for quite some time...and they seem to be in a good mood/helpful...unlike the other 2 popular hardware/BB stores around here...
