anyone here have experience with the panther 1/4" pitch kits? im looking to get the 14" to try on my 194T I ended up swapping the .043 3/8p chain from my polesaw onto the 194 yesterday, and she rips, 1/4" .043 even better?
When I fixed up a few 193 and 194 saws they had the 3/8 .043" Stihl chains with a 14" bar. They ripped as well. Not sure about 1/4" but that means more teeth but less power per tooth I would imagine.
I use 1/4” on a pole saw and a 150t. I like how it makes smooth cuts. It works better on the pole saw. It binds up with chips a lot when cutting 10-12” wood on the 150t. Works great on smaller wood. Dislike the double rakers and sharpening 1/4” chain.
have you ran the 150 with 3/8"? looked at the specs and the 194 seems like a bigger saw, but everyone seems to love the 150 even on bigger wood
You're going to need a different bar then if the bar was used for a .043" gauge chain. And if you do decide to change the pitch you'll need to change the sprocket on the saw to match the new pitch.
