Yup. Having a white PU i know all too well. The swallows that built a nest on the light fixture above our front door loved to perch on my ladder racks and my hood was spotted with their droppings. Luckily they didnt eat any berries!
Great work Eric. Nice that it was down and not uphill. Seems im always battling hills at a score. Id be flip flipping 4' logs down that hill.
Honestly its not that great the beauty of the wood and the smell of it are its best attributes. Its flames are rather small although it does coal really good. Soft maple is a superior firewood.
buZZsaw BRAD I was trying to do the slipping thing today but I had cut the logs a bit long. 64 inch red oak log 10 inches in diameter was a bit much for me to be flipping. Got it all cut into 32 inch logs and next week I will finish the bucking and split them enough to make them easy to handle. It looks like this may get me to my goal for this fall.
Thats great. Yeah the flip flop technique works great for me unless its a biggun. Then its bucked to 16" and section. Ive been known to carry sections out on my shoulders too.
Slowly making progress with the oak and cherry. So far I have gotten 3 trailer loads of blocks to my processing area. I still have a bit more to cut and transport before I am done. I have never been so far ahead as I am this year. Great feeling on a large stash.
Finally met my goal of filling up this space with blocks that will be split next spring/summer. I separated the oak and cherry with cherry being on the far left. I still have to cut up the limb wood but that shouldn't take too long.
