Well since covid hit, i have been working from home, with no end in sight as the company seems like they want us to work from home going forward. With two little ones in the house its been pretty hectic, so i am going to build a shed in my back yard and make it my office. Dont have much to show yet, but i have made alot of my construction lumber and started making lap siding this weekend. I will add to this thread as things get more interesting. Lap siding Tour of the drying building where my lumber is cut and drying (still needs to be resawn into 2x6 and 2x4s)
Office/man cave/dog house. Good idea, I’m thinking you could find multiple uses for this build! The wife’s going to wonder why your “working” so many hours?!
Gonna be a nice build. What size are you making it? Is that from you chain saw milling or do you own a band saw mill?
Ok so its been a long time coming, but you know how things get busy in the summertime. Trailer with all the poplar 2x4s made on my LT15 for the framing.
Base made out of PT band and post, plywood, and joists are made from my poplar off the mill: Next was to make the trusses again out of my poplar, had to buy some nail plates for this: Build the walls: Get the walls put up and the roof on, bought some truss hangers for this: Put the windows and sliding door in:
Get some insulation put in. Used R15 on the walls and R26 in the ceiling. You can see i was starting to use it before i had it completed lol. Also put alittle under the floor.
Ok, used sugar maple off the mill for paneling on the inside, shown not quite done. I ended up putting poly on it:
Lastly i put the floor in just a couple weeks ago. That red oak took forever to dry in my shed. I waited till it got down to 10-12% and that took most of the summer and fall lol. The sugar maple i used for paneling had all winter and spring to dry. I had most of the tools to do all this from my cabin project that i completed a few years back. If anybody has any questions, ask away and enjoy the pics! Pics of the floor with and without poly on it:
Somehow i dont have a picture of the outside after stain and some landscaping lol. I will get one tomorrow and post it.
Looks great Spencer. Any particular reason you changed the flooring direction at what I think is the slider door? That woodmizer is making life good.
So i changed the direction because i had a bunch of scrap pieces that were just long enough to use on the end. Figured it might look neat and reduce the amount of boards i would throw away.
Thanks! It saved me quite a bit of money as 2x4 studs were like $10 at the time when i framed it up. Im sure i saved myself quite a bit of money.
