Finally time to start some curing fires here. Daytime highs in the 50’s. Fine splits of mulberry to drive the moisture out of the system.
Just finished mowing. 75 today headed to 80 tomorrow. I think I'll be mowing till Thanksgiving. Mike in Okla
House is at 62, lows of 40s tonight. Time for a little break in fire! Got a little hotter than I wanted in the firebox but should be fine. I did a smaller break in fire the other day
Flirting right around with the freezing temp right now. Lit the wood furnace late morning and have been limping it along ever since...75 inside now! Those are Backwoods Savage indoor temps right there!
Cool stove! Is it a split room stove? Do you have any more pics of it? I've only seen that setup with a gas appliance.
Almost! It is 80 inhere right now. Won't be adding wood for a while. Temp only down to 40 and it has been raining.
Here are a few. I need to take some more this season when the glass is clean and the firebox is really roaring.
Thank you! I picked the stone, Eric and the team at Solid Rock Masonry did the rest. Pretty well designed the house around it!
Nice looking fireplace won't let my wife see it. Duck hunting now looking at some of my 1000 dead ash trees. Can't get them until the river freezes. Only got about ten last winter because of the deep snow. Still have hundreds on this side. Burning ash and box elder.
27° out now in northern Wisconsin at the cabin. It probably got cooler than that overnight. Burning spruce logs, and lumber cutoffs in the wood boiler. I have a feeling the fire needs rechooching because I loaded it around 9 last night, and all of the wood was go-fer wood.
The 8” pipe is straight for the masonry heater. It’s a cinch to clean and I only have to clean it every other year. The 6” pipe is for the Jotul downstairs and I use a soot eater for it. That one isn’t much fun.
