Unfortunately this isn't the case regarding what I mentioned. It's public knowledge.

I'd steer clear of the equinox. In general.

Just keep reading those consumer reports and reporting your biased findings and researching 10 years in order to purchase something.

I use the latest US Gov't census statistics, not outliers.

Since we are on the subject of vehicles, anybody own a Subaru Forester or Outback? Just curious about longevity and reliability.

Wife own 2013 forester. After 2013 went to timing chain instead of belt. Much better!
120k got it used with 16k. She loves it!! No real issues. We will own another, loves ground clearance

oh her mom and sister both have cross checks

Only thing I know (and yes I know from experience not internet jockeying) they had head gasket problems on 4 cylinders and a major fix (unless you went to someone that actually knows what they are doing). Don’t know if that has ever been resolved or not. Never had anything to do with Subaru. Like I said before I worked for GM in the truck division. I was part of the engineering department. My job was to take failed units and figure out why they failed and recommended the fix going forward. I worked on some very interesting stuff. Real life experience not keyboard research. I would not hesitate one second to get an equinox. I’m so confident in the second biggest seller for Chevy I would buy it for you.

tree killer 90% of head gasket issues were from not replacing timing belt and water pump and pulleys at 110k miles. Timing chain and maintenance solved issue

At this point in time we'll just keep repairing our vehicles regardless of age. As well as EV are not recommended here because the long distances between places, frequent shut downs on roads/highways. God forbid someone got stranded, the heater may not make it long enough. Colorado is more being stuck in a blizzard but they have much more population and less distance between here and there.

Like I said I know nothing about Subaru , well maybe a certain type of gender likes them. Just know that the problem exists from hands on guys.

They solved the head gasket problem years back from what I’ve heard, but wanted to hear from someone who owned one.
