Ahh..the joys of a 64 and a 65 bug comes to mind with this when I was stationed in Germany.
    1. The spare tire being flat because the windshield washer was pressurized from a hose on the valve stem of the spare tire.
    2. Scraping the inside of the windshield with an ice scraper on cold winter mornings.
    3. Back seat catching on fire when big friend managed to get the seat springs compressed and shorted across the battery under the seat.
    4. Swapping the engine out in a parking lot with no lift or jack of any kind. pull bolts drop engine on ground, pick up rear of car to get bumper over motor and roll forward. Reverse to install.
    5. Heater was non existent.
    6. Piece of string tied to throttle on carb and ran over back seat to hand pull when OEM cable broke one night on autobahn.

Called a tooth remover slot if incorrectly used. Correct use is a bumper jack. 881C9774-88A8-4337-B372-A9819BBA0341.png

Abd before those slots, there were the adapters that would conform to the outline of the bumper....remember? They would have an extra beefy lip that would conform to the bottom of the bumper also.

Must've been a pain to have the same profile on the front and rear bumpers in order for the jack to fit both.

They are a little prone to kicking to the side too. A great invention pre millennial worries.
